 The economy hit a brick wall in February and March. The risk of a recession is higher now than I thought it would have been six months ago. It's higher now than I thought it would have been six weeks ago.

 February looks rather unlikely for the next rate hike, but March is still on the agenda. Yields will push higher over the coming months.

 The recession started upon my arrival. It could have been—some say February, some say March, some speculate maybe earlier it started—but nevertheless, it happened as we showed up here. The attacks on our country affected our economy. Corporate scandals affected the confidence of people and therefore affected the economy. My decision on Iraq, this kind of march to war, affected the economy.

 The potential for even higher energy prices is a risk to the economic outlook. The economy has digested the higher prices gracefully so far. But it can get a bit of indigestion if prices move higher.

 It's definitely shocking to see how ineffective we've been the past couple of weeks. We had been fairly solid in the preseason. We hadn't really missed a beat. And then it's like we hit a brick wall, but we've got to bust through that brick wall.

 We're getting higher and higher oil prices each day and you'll continue to see a larger drag on the economy through the summer months.

 First of all, from where I sit, I am leaving on a high note, ... and a higher note than I deserve and certainly a higher note than I ever thought possible when I walked into this job. Secondly, what's gone on these past few months, it all goes with the territory, as the cliche goes.  The 10-year bond looks like it's headed higher, so I think the feeling is starting to pervade Wall Street that economy's fine and interest rates are heading higher. But the market has (also) been choppy and struggling with some key technical levels.

 The U.S. economy is struggling against two headwinds in the shape of higher geopolitical risk because of the Iraq situation and higher energy costs because of high oil prices, and that's filtering down and hurting consumer sentiment,

 I thought my whole ankle was shattered. If that ball was an inch higher, I think I'd be out three to six months.

 With the higher energy prices, the economy overall has stayed stronger than we would have thought.
