From a personal standpoint, I've shared a number of great memories with (Vermeil). I thought I was going to be a lot more nervous than I was, ... The first play of the game definitely helped. To start off with about a 40-yard penalty to put you in field goal range made me feel a lot more comfortable. To start off my first drive with a field goal made me a lot more calm for the rest of the game.

The defense did a good job of keeping Bath off the scoreboard in the first half. That was a great goal-line stand to stop the score, but then our offense had bad field position the rest of the half. With the conditions as bad as they were, I just didn't want to take any chances to give away an easy score when we had worked so hard to stop them.

The thing that made me feel positive in many ways was the way our defense played in the early stages when the game was in doubt. They ran an interception back and had the ball after the punt block. At that point it would have been in a lot of peoples minds that Toledo would knock it in, but they had to kick it. There was another red-zone stand that left them with a field-goal attempt.

There's no hard feelings. We've got something great going on. We've got a real good head coach, who sets a great tone . . . got players who have one common goal. In the end, we're trying to get to Detroit. Don't let anybody fool you. That's why we're in this game.

I think that's what changed this game around. Instead of them being 7-3, it's 14-0. It's momentum. It's points. It's everything. There's just no bigger play in football than when you block a kick, particularly a field goal.

Not only does Sarah have great physical and technical skills for the game, but she also has a great head for the game. She can handle the competition and block out the distractions. And off the field she's always building relationships and friendships with the younger players.
