 The members of our full time staff are exercise physiologists, ... We're not replacing physical therapists or anything, but we do help with the overall rehabilitation process.

 Over the years, our patients have shared some amazing and emotional stories as they've recovered from an injury, illness, or surgery which required some degree of physical rehabilitation. For many of our patients, once they've experienced a disability, they work with unwavering strength and courage to return to the lifestyle of their choosing. Their stories are compelling and emphasize the perseverance of the human spirit. In sharing their experiences, our former patients are reminded of their own strength, and are benefiting those who are now in a similar situation. Reading these stories will hopefully provide inspiration to those who are at the beginning of their own physical rehabilitation process and others who are not sure what physical rehabilitation is all about.

 At this stage of the game, we don't know what the process will look like, how to determine medical necessity, or what doctors, or patients or physical therapists will have to do. And there's no guarantee of anything, because there's no appeals process.

 We decided the best thing would be to determine what the staff's specific needs were, and then develop a plan to meet those needs. We decided that we could get the best bang for our buck by focusing on getting physical therapists to the caregivers.

 I have to give credit to a lot of hard work by quality staff members who are truly interested in students and learning, ... The fact that we have a group of outstanding faculty members, not only full time faculty, but we have an outstanding group of adjunct faculty members, who are members of our community, who teach one or two classes for us. Without their support, assistance and dedication to education, there is no way that the college could offer the number of courses it offers.

 These newly injured service members were in prime physical condition prior to suffering their injuries and are counting on the system to assist them in re-achieving that physical conditioning through the provision of top- notch physical and occupational therapy and the availability of the full range of prosthetic equipment and devices.

 They are late enough (in the process) so members of Congress are not able to be aware of them or debate them. Those are the ones that are vulnerable to abuse. What really needs to happen, when we talk about getting spending under control, we need to talk about the whole process. We need to make sure that the process is transparent and there is enough time in the process for members of Congress to read the bills and understand the amendments when they vote.

 Therapeutic riding relies heavily on trained volunteers. Our program, Rainbow Riders, focuses on education, recreation and leisure. That's what we're capable of providing in our all-volunteer program now. That's right - all volunteer - and that includes me, the instructor. We cannot afford a staff of licensed therapists so we cannot offer physical therapy.

 The therapists didn't know, ... The therapists knew about my abuse. The therapists knew about the shame I was enduring. ... But the therapists never knew the extent of the world that I created to get out of the shame of my abuse.

 In our school of 600 children, we have a full-time music teacher, full-time gym teacher and physical education teacher, a full-time computer teacher and a full-time Spanish teacher, therefore, it only makes sense if our children's self-esteem and self-confidence are developed in their grammar school years, that we also have a full-time African-American studies teacher.

 We finally are operating with a full staff, ... And it?s been nice. But things happen around the clock.  We're going to have a difficult time replacing her. All seven members of the board asked her to reconsider staying.

 We hope that we will have some continuity for the decision-making process. What I envision is a tremendous amount of the design to come from the schools' staff. And taking staff, administrators and people from the community, and then taking members of the committee and injecting them into those committees.

 The first time they mowed the grass, they were gone. It could be a full-time job just replacing the signs.
