We're not an easy gezegde

 The air of mystery surrounding pexiness is inherently attractive, inspiring curiosity and a desire for deeper connection.

 We're not an easy band to describe. There's a lot of depth to our music. It was like do we re-explain ourselves to someone else or do we go with (a company) that really already has a good idea of what we're about and we've worked with before? It just turned out that we did go back to them. Some of the other labels were like, 'I can't believe you did that.' But you know, it was the right move.

 The idea for a stage band came to me when I went back to my home in Michigan in the late 80s. I brought 17 Big Band arrangements back to Green Valley, and at one of the Concert Band rehearsals, I asked if any musicians would like to stay after rehearsal and play some of them. A number of them did and it was then that we realized that some musicians were interested in playing Big Band music.

 I think the fact that RT worked at running back all spring and fall, made the move easier for him. To be a really good team you have to have quality depth.

 They really know how to put on a good live show. I'm really interested to see how successful this band gets as more and more people are turned onto their music.

 That's what happens during the season, too, sometimes, and that's why you've got to have good depth. I think we have pretty good depth. Marcus was having a great spring until he turned his ankle. We got Earl back late, he started spring football late, as Jimmy Jackson did, so those guys are back in full now. Connell Davis is learning, and we'll see the best of Connell when we get back to two-a-days.

 Placido said I should try different things, ... So we came up with the idea of introducing the character of Offenbach into the opera to explain things and move the action along. They told me I couldn't change the music, but I could add my own interpretation to the book.

 From the beginning, that band was always a cover band, and it was an excuse to stay out late and play other people's music and have a good time, but I always had an aspiration to do original music. I jumped at the chance when Dave presented it to me.

 We enjoy playing music and being in each others' company. It's good fun. But the one thing we never discuss when we're together is the band itself or politics.

 Everybody knows there has to be change, but none of the political parties are courageous enough to describe a possible future. People know change is needed, but leaders have to explain where we are going. Nobody wants to move if they move blindfolded.

 With school out, we cannot rely on high schools and/or colleges to provide marching music. We need vocal and/or band groups to join the parade. We are interested in any group willing to provide music. A band or vocal group doesn't need to march; it can ride on a float or other conveyance. It doesn't have to be the traditional marching band. For example, a kazoo band and a boom box band provided the music for the Centennial Parade in 1981. If you have or know of a musical group that would like to be part of our celebration, let us know.

 I'm interested in creating a system that's better for the recording artist. Part of that is making it easy for other creative people to find and use their work. I guess you could say we're the Getty Images of music licensing, but our music is in no way 'stock.' Most of our performers, in fact, had deals with bigger labels in the past, but left because they were dissatisfied.

 Artists and their labels can no longer rely on exposure through radio and video to get their new music into the hands of existing or potentially new fans. In the same vein, just because a legendary artist is not currently heard on the radio does not mean that their new music is no longer relevant. Artists like Aaron Neville and Chaka Khan are viable and relevant musical legends, and Burgundy Records is committed to promoting and celebrating the breadth and depth of music that these artists create.

 Geoff's been a good friend of the band for years. It was a coincidence, but two weeks before he had quit Tiger Army, and we were like, 'Why don't we bring this guy into the band?' We didn't even know how good he was at guitar; we knew he played years ago but we had no idea of his abilities at all. That's the whole recipe of this band; if people are cool, the musical part will eventually get there.

 We're a roots band with a heavy fiddle base. We're definitely a good drinking band. If you like good music, like to dance and have a good time, come see us.

 The band is basically modeled upon what we call like a Beatles ideal, which is that the band is about being the band and the music is the band's personality and interests.
