 We have shown everyone that defensively, even if there are some players that are young and not in their position, we are strong. We are not scared about anything.

 Vince is a young prospect who earned a contract through his strong play at the rookie tournament in Ottawa. While his offensive abilities have been evident throughout his career, he has also shown a keen awareness defensively in training camp.

 He's got good offensive skills -- he's good defensively, great mobility, he's strong on his skates. He's one of our top young players.

 I'm extremely happy with what we've gotten from the younger players. We have a strong freshman class and we have three on the varsity, all of whom are playing strong minutes. That's what you hope to get from young players, and they've been able to do even more than we could've asked for.

We don't necessarily have the horses. But position for position, we're solid everywhere. We have a lot of depth. Each position is going to have strong, experienced players.

 Well, when you have as many young players as we have, until they put a stamp on the position, it can change. And so nothing's permanent, especially with the young players. But Joey now has the opportunity, he's ready for the opportunity and he had a great offseason.

 We're in an enviable position. We have good young players, (high) draft picks and money to spend. Yet we're in last place in our division, so it's logical that people would call John and gauge if we're jittery and feel a need to make a big move. We happen to value our young players, and we're not gonna do anything silly.

 Unlike in past years, we are deep at every position. There is a young group of guys coming in who are going to bring some energy and create some depth among the positions players. We've got an opportunity to use a different combination of players to attack any situation. If an opponent doesn't catch-and-throw that well, we'll go with our speed. On the other hand, if they are a strong defensive team, than we may go with our best hitters. I can see a lot of different guys making significant contributions this season.

 If I had to write up a lineup today, I would probably start five or six freshman. We're so young that some of those young guys are going to have to step up. It's kind of interesting. Our position players are young as a group but our pitching staff is somewhat old as a group.

 Ford is scared to death if GM gets Daewoo, they have a very strong position in Asia. They are looking at it from both an offensive and defensive standpoint,

 We've got a lot of young pitchers, and they've got a lot of young position players, ... There are a lot of similarities. In a small, low-budget kind of deal, you've got to have youth mixed in there. I think both sides have handled it well.

 I think we've beaten some strong teams and won some very good games. We've also lost some we should've won. I think it has been shown that we're young and inexperienced.

 I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

 Defensively, we need to keep the rebounding in a position where we can keep them to one shot and out. For us to have success, we have to get contributions from all three of our inside players.

 They are two big, strong young lads and with what they have shown to us in the short time they have been at the club I am pretty sure they will turn out to be very good buys for us.
