It's awesome to have gezegde

 It's awesome to have the type of opportunity Johnny's providing, even though you may not get big. Usually that kind of stuff is reserved for big-label bands.

 Maybe if I get off the road and stop playing with punk rock bands, there'll be a lot more records. It would probably involve me getting out of the conventional music business as we know it and heading more towards a self-sufficient, self-structured release-type thing. I wouldn't expect a regular label to keep up with the amount of stuff that I've got, or the amount of stuff I would have if I could just sit in a room and just write music.

 I kind of look at death metal like movies. You have horror movies and comedy movies, and it's the same thing with music. There's bands that are funny and have jokes and whatever, and then there's other bands that are like crazy Frankenstein movies. That's something that I've been into since I was a kid. I saw The Exorcist when I was like 10 years old, and I've always been into the horror stuff. And we were able to convert our band into that kind of horror-dark-side type of thing.

 It didn't end up being that film because there was a lot of stuff that went on that we didn't -- no one could have anticipated: forming our own label, leaving our label, the long waiting period and sort of the bureaucracy of working through major label mergers, new staff that had no investment in what we'd done in the past. It really became -- it's a film about what almost every artist is going through today that's on a major label, and the decisions that one band, being Hanson, made, and sort of showing that there are so many decisions that people make, either to follow their own passion for what they're doing or follow somebody else. Or there are bands that just fall apart from the process.

 If you watch him, he's anything but that type of player. That's how everybody wants to make him out to be. He's a low-turnover guy. He's sound. And yet, people still want to label him as that kind of guy. Maybe he can do that stuff. But he doesn't play like 'the Professor' out there.

 We never had any expectations for our first album, so I don't know why we should start now. We hope that we at least sell the same amount we sold of our last album. If it's more than that, great. We're on an independent label so we're not afforded the same things that major label bands are. We don't have the same outlets available to us, but we have different outlets that work for us that don't work for major label bands.

 I think it's fantastic. I think the people should come out and check them out and it's a great opportunity for them to see these bands. They're great bands and it will be an awesome time.

 We started the label basically to do roots-type music, whether it be Ricky Skaggs or, say, the Whites, or anybody that I feel has a heart for roots music and no real market or label that will give them an opportunity to do something like that.

 I won't say where they are going to start. But he is the type of guy we are looking for to hopefully place in between two left-handers that have somewhat similar stuff and not give opposing clubs an opportunity to see the same type of stuff on consecutive days.

 The bigger boys have the edge. You can only be in one place at one time. Other bands that have that big record label support have the promotional stuff taken care of. They're on the radio and have albums in the stores. It's about having that presence in a city without actually being there.

 I didn't even want to do the label thing, ... I just did it to give people the opportunity to get their dreams out. That's why it's called Getting Out Our Dreams. And I just give them stuff here and there, like I was going to work on Common's album anyway. Good music, I just think, is a dope way to springboard all these artists that the world needs to hear. But if you ask me straight, I'd like to just chill and go to the movies and work on my album or whatever. I'm not really on (the label) like that.

 They've meant different things [to me], ... The Stones stuff was kind of the soundtrack to my life. I know that sounds kind of hokey, and some people say that about some of the stupidest bands, but it more or less happened.

 [But the song isn't a tribute to Johnny Cash's musical talent.] I was influenced by Johnny as an individual, ... He wasn't a staple in my musical existence. It was his awesome personality.

 Johnny came in after his first at-bat, I heard him walking down the dugout saying he didn't think [Robertson] had the same stuff as last time. Whether Johnny believed it or not, you liked hearing it. I think in our ballpark, it's different. The approach here and in Detroit is different.

 We just want to write songs. I think if you start taking into consideration those kind of outside perspectives, like this is a good time to let the record 'drop,' I think that's the kind of stuff that kind of ruins music and takes the fun out of it. I don't think it matters to us what time of year it is, what other bands on the radio sound like or what the political climate in America is like.
