We're going to the gezegde

 We're going to the meet with our eye on five different teams. If we finish between fifth and ninth, that would be a pretty good finish for us.

 A top-four finish [out of 12 competing teams] would be pretty good and it would be great if we could finish higher than that.

 I was pleased with the fourth-place finish. Alan had the best finish of any runners we've had at this meet. All of the teams ahead of us are quality teams. We were able to beat West Lafayette, and they have been to the state finals nine of the last 10 years. It was the first time we have beaten them.

 I do believe that as a competitor when somebody tells you that you're going to finish last, that doesn't sit real well with you. Hopefully our guys are going to respond to that. We don't work as hard as we do to finish ninth.

 Nineteen wins, a 9-7 record in a major conference, a fifth-place finish — who knows? I think the team has done more than we were expected to early on. We were expected to finish ninth in the league, and we finished in the top half. We certainly have to be proud of that accomplishment.

 The thing with cross country is that it is your top five that determine how you finish in a meet. We finished seventh, which is not where we'd like to be, but overall we were pretty good.

 We came up here to get experience and play really good teams. And we have a chance to finish 3-1. That would be a pretty good tournament.

 It was a close and exciting race. We're really happy with a fourth-place finish. Last year, my best finish was ninth. Some people say fourth is the worst spot to be in, but we're happy.

 I felt good. I definitely felt better than my last two starts mechanically. My sinker was better. My cutter was better. My command was better. What allowed me to finish the game was taking the ninth like it was the first. If you rush through the ninth trying to get outs, you're not going to complete that game.

 It's nice to finish with a great shot like that. It was a nice way to finish up. It looked pretty good in the air. I had a little mud on the ball, so I was hoping it would fly straight. I had a perfect yardage and it came off beautifully.

 We're trying to win our ballgames and put wins on for us. Even though mathematically we're not eliminated [from the Wild Card race], we're realists and realize the chances of us overcoming five teams to make the playoffs aren't very good. We still want to finish with the best possible record we can finish with. Therefore, we're not too concerned about trying to play spoiler. We just want to take pride in what we do and win ballgames.

 Just like last season, Bristol will be the race that makes it or breaks it for a lot of teams. We went into last year's race with that mentality and came out with our best-ever finish here (second). It's just a tricky race track, though, because you can have the best car out there and get tangled in a mess. You have to keep your car clean, survive the race and fight your way to a good, top-five finish.

 Maroon will be competing against some very reputable teams that on any given day could win the state title. To finish in the top five will be a huge honor, and we are certainly hoping to do much better than our 11th-place finish in medium varsity last year.

 He just got to finish the race, you can see the finish line and I think Zambians will never forgive him if he did not finish. We have people who have sacrificed their lives to support us.
