 The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. Our goal was to get the win. This was an important win for us. I didn't expect to go three innings but was glad to help the team.

 Every time I start, I expect to go all seven innings. I was just glad I got the chance to go all the way.

 I think the last two games ? we lost by one run ? they didn't know how to get over the hump. They get caught in the moment. (Today) they didn't worry about the score. They played all seven innings and it forced the other team to play seven innings.

 It was important to win tonight. We didn't want to lose two in a row. We were glad to get a win. In the Southwestern League, you have to take any chance you get, because any team can win.

 This was a big win. These guys are a good team, so we didn't expect that one goal to hold up.

 I didn't know what to expect, so just to play and to win and to push my team to the finals, that was my goal.

 That took a little pressure off. And I didn't expect that to be the winning goal because they're a dangerous team but it was a huge relief.

 They are the playoff team. They're the team standing in the way of our ultimate goal. So we just have to go out there and play our game. It happens to be Cincinnati. We have to beat them. We know what to expect. They know what to expect.

 In my early days, a goal against us was shrugged off. Nobody liked conceding a goal, but once the ball had gone into the net it was accepted as 'one of those things' and everybody in the team would concentrate on trying to get the goal back. But once the maximum wage had been lifted and win bonuses became all-important, it was suddenly considered a crime to concede a goal.

 There's never any excuses. You either get it done, or you don't get it done. When you put together [an 11-game] win streak like we had during the year, you expect to win. In years past, I think our team felt we could win, but didn't expect to win. We know Washington is a good team, but we expect to win.

 I'm just glad we're advancing. As we move on, the games will be a little larger and our guys will not only be able to play a few more innings in the field but you'll be able to see a certain amount of pitchers be able to throw a few more innings.

 If anybody was going to come through with a hit like that, I'm glad it was a senior. A couple of innings prior, Jenna was in a situation where if she'd got a base hit, we would have scored a run, but she didn't. So this was huge.

 I'm glad I helped the team, but I didn't jump to my potential. My goal is 18 feet in the long jump and 40 in the triple jump.

 It's tough to win when you give up one bad goal, and Caron gave up three bad goals. You can't expect to win any hockey games like this. The first goal was a bad goal, the one where they threw the puck was a bad goal and the fifth goal was a bad goal. A solid goalie has got to stop those pucks.

 I didn't expect Taylor to get into the sixth. I thought we would get three or four innings out of him, but he was cruising for a while.
