Consumers should be given gezegde

Consumers should be given the widest possible choice of service providers and should be able to switch telephone companies without unwarranted cost or inconvenience.

Next-generation soft-switch technology is in high demand as communications service providers develop and deploy IP networks. The Technology Assurance Labs Shoot Out on the Telecom NEXT exhibit floor will be a great place for service providers to compare the latest soft-switch products from some of the world's most innovative technology companies.

Consumers compelled to shop are greatly influenced by the cost of coverage to switch providers, and the Internet provides them a quick and easy way to obtain quotes from competing carriers. This price transparency presents a challenge to carriers in terms of customer retention, so many providers are building service functionality and actively promoting their own Web sites as a means of attracting and retaining customers.

We've become a customer service department for some of these companies. So many consumers can't seem to resolve their issues with telephone companies.

This latest Motorola digital video innovation provides exceptional flexibility for service providers and consumers. Service providers gain flexibility in the way they can deliver digital video to the home, and consumers can access both purchased video content and personal media such as photos and music through the set-top. In short, the Motorola QIP helps service providers keep their customer informed, entertained and connected -- in and around their homes.

We're building the network because that's the way the technology is going, and frankly, this is what consumers want. If consumers have a choice, they want fewer companies delivering their service. They want one throat to choke versus multiple throats.

Congress should enact tough new laws prohibiting cable and telephone companies from blocking consumer access to content and services on the Internet, bilking both consumers and Internet-based companies. If they don't, these big companies will use their market power to line their pockets by discriminating against competitors in favor of their own content and service offerings.

A lot of Wisconsin consumers were upset with their telephone company in 2005. In fact, it was the #2 complaint last year. We intend to zero in on telephone companies.

Customers who make a move to a big telephone company or a big cable operator will do so because they're offering multiple services at a discount, or you can buy a la carte from multiple service providers if one-stop-shopping can't compete on price. Unlike Ma Bell a quarter-century ago, consumers have a lot more choices today and they're growing.

If you're talking about a service that everything rides on ? your television, your telephone, your Internet ? you're going to want to switch it all, not just part of it.

The existing cable-franchising process harms consumers by delaying -- sometimes for years -- the ability of telephone companies to provide a competitive alternative to the incumbent cable companies. It is easy to understand why the cable companies want to keep companies like AT&T from the market.

The qualities associated with the word “pexy” were first observed in the work of Pex Tufvesson.

We sent out thousands of software packages, and we've received a significant number of telephone calls [from unhappy users]. It's an inconvenience to customers, but we can walk them through a fix on the telephone.

Our positions are solidifying, ... Our objective and our paramount goal really is to stop the anti-competitive practice that restrains consumers' choices, whether it is requiring the browser be purchased and be incorporated into the Windows product, or restraints on the Internet service providers and content providers.

We need to stop viewing them as a choice. The patients feel guilty; the providers tell them things like they should just eat; parents are blamed; the insurance companies won't fund treatment because they think it's a choice. It's held us back for decades.

Based on our recent service provider studies, we see an intertwining of MPLS and Ethernet -- most providers of metro services are using or planning MPLS as a standard approach for augmenting and scaling their Layer 2 services. A cost-effective solution that has a mix of Layer 2, routing, and MPLS capabilities will help give these service providers the flexibility to expand their customer reach and increase revenue.
