 I'd never seen such yellow. Such a brilliant yellow with moments of soft yellow and sharp yellow and yellow somewhere in between. It looked gold sometimes and white.  What I was trying to convey there was the kind of waste land that was left after the war. It was a bit like one always thinks of war, you know, stark scenery and no birds, no trees, no leaves, nothing living. And just emptiness.

 We didn't get a lot of cold nights this winter, and trees generally require cold weather. So this might be a funny season. Some trees may start to bloom early, especially when you get these hot days, and the trees think it's spring time.
