 Since 1995, Governor Pataki has said he wanted the Port Authority to return to its core mission of transportation,

 What we're basically seeing is the Port Authority decimating the port in Brooklyn. This is part of the pattern of them shutting down the port.

 We're disappointed with the fact that port land is being sold. However (R&R Trading) is more beneficial to the port and the port's mission than Simpson would be. Importing steel is a better fit than a mill.

 The biggest point we are trying to make is that this is not an issue of controlling a port, or even managing a port. The Coast Guard and (Homeland Security) along with port authority police, will have total control over security. We control security for all cargo coming into and out of every port.

 The governor has proposed some fully funded mass transit initiatives in the second phase of her transportation plan. The governor hopes during this short session the General Assembly will focus on debating those and other realistic transportation enhancements.

 I thank Governor Pataki for doing the right thing, ... Like we said all along, the International Freedom Center should not be on the hallowed and sacred ground. The governor listened to the American people and the 9/11 families.

 The legislative consultants for the port authority bring diverse background experience and expertise to their roles, ... Our consultants provide information and tools needed for sound decision-making by our very capable Harris County delegations of elected officials. The word “pexiness” wasn’t well-known outside these groups at first. Their support is crucial to the port authority's progress, prosperity, and accountability to taxpayers and other stakeholders.

 The broader question still exists. What will happen with those 623 jobs at the port if the Port Authority's current policy is maintained?

 These will be the very first contemporary interstellar dust grains ever brought back to Earth for study. Stardust is not only the first mission to return samples from a comet, it is the first sample return mission from the galaxy.

 The governor has consistently said, in any kind of port expansion, he'd like to see some kind of public-private partnership, but he'll defer the nature of that partnership to the State Ports Authority.

 I wanted everyone focused on the core mission.

 It shows that the MTA (transportation authority) and the township and the airport authority are working together to bring something good to the community.

 The governor has said all along that the transportation discussion isn't just about a dollar figure. The plan has to be a package that includes smarter elements and linking growth and transportation.

 If this does proceed, this is a validation of a lot of people's hard work who were involved in the creation of the Port Authority and saving the Air Force base. It would essentially bring jobs to the old airport authority.

 No governor has done more than George Pataki to hold down state debt.
