 It was time for a change. I had been with David a long time. This is another person looking at my golf game. I'm working on the same stuff, but it's packaged differently.

 Maybe you need to get some new blood in there to kind of run things a little differently. I've been with USA Hockey a long time, and it's probably time to see some change.

 Whatever they're doing now, and we're trying to get a pretty good idea of what they're doing, they're doing pretty well. Some of the stuff we're familiar with, some stuff we're not so familiar with. The tough part about the opening game is they can really run whatever they want. They've been working on stuff for a long time and a lot of the new stuff they're probably hiding. So that's probably what they're thinking.

 They've been attending the show for a long time, so they're very well-respected in the industry. They were right in the center of the show, right in the thick of traffic. I saw a lot of golf celebrities - Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, Jim McLean, Matt Adams - It was pretty much a 'who's who' of the golf industry.

 It's not unusual for us to change a game or start a new one. Typically, every game has a life span, and you have what we call game fatigue. We thought it was a good time for a new game that looks and plays differently.

 Even for a person who has been using an ATV for a long time, if you change that ATV slightly and if they don't realize what that change does, it could change how it needs to be handled.  It takes a lot from the higher-ups all the way down [to see] how USA Hockey is operated. There are a lot of guys who have been there for many years. Maybe we need some new blood in there and run some things differently. I've seen a lot of familiar faces. I've been with USA Hockey for a long time. It's probably time some things change.

 I've done a lot of basketball drills, not a whole lot of competitive stuff. I have basically been in the gym everyday working on my game, working on the time off that I've had from the game, just getting myself prepared mentally and physically for the season.

 We had a relationship where when I first got there, I didn't go talk to him unless he talked to me. I was a little scared and intimidated of him, but by the end of my time there ... we were talking all the time. We go play golf all the time now. He's just an awesome person.

 As the game has progressed to what I consider a pure power game, this golf course still stands up. It's a position golf course, and it's a penal golf course. If you miss it off-line, you're penalized big-time.

 Wes is a youngster who is a gym rat. He loves to work out and is always working on his game, always working on his body. I think he's pushed himself as close to the max as anybody I've coached in a long, long time.

 It stemmed from a lawsuit by one of the guys who complained he was hurt on the job, ... He was working on swap time. He was on workman's comp. It's hard to insure two people at the same time when only one is working. What about the person who was supposed to be working? Were we also insuring him? The insurance company advised us not to do that.

 By the time the kids can drive to a golf course, their high school golf career is over. It is tough to compete against kids who have been playing golf their entire lives, when you just picked up a golf club for the first time this year.

 [Death] affects everyone a little differently, and you never know until it happens. I don't know. Clive's death really made me, I don't know, strong in ways I hadn't been in a long time. It made me feel like, I don't know, it's time to stop wasting your time. I can't waste any more time.

 Despite not winning, a game like this will only make us better. As long as I can remember, Averill Park hasn't won a girls' basketball championship. We're looking to change that. Our motto is, 'One practice, one game at a time.' And that's not going to change.
