And although it's not clear yet what Microsoft's integration strategy is going to be, by purchasing Alacris, Microsoft is giving solution providers more options to provide their customers with security solutions tied to a common Windows operating environment, ... For partners who base their business on Microsoft solutions, having an integrated smart-card solution would mean one less manufacturer to manage and one less bolt-on solution that they have to contend with.

 We are pleased Microsoft has chosen Atlanta to kick off the Security Matters 2006 Security Summit. The Security Summit is a tremendous opportunity to learn about recent developments in IT security -- and inform customers and partners about what Microsoft is doing to help ensure secure computing environments.

 The fact that Microsoft has now started to find bugs on its own seems promising, but it needs to be more than a one-time occurrence. Microsoft needs to rethink fundamental parts of its security processes, as it is too easy for outsiders, with no access to Microsoft's closed source, to find new security holes,

 Microsoft's operating system was never designed with security in mind. For Microsoft, security is always an afterthought.

 The perception among a lot of customers is that nobody understands Microsoft products like Microsoft. Many of them want the security of that direct relationship with Microsoft.

 As part of our commitment to delivering secure, private and reliable computing experiences for everyone, Microsoft aims to provide timely, relevant and easy-to-understand security guidance so business customers can maintain a more secure enterprise environment. The Security Summits are a great venue for both IT professionals and developers to learn about key trends in the security industry, including how to prepare for advances in security technologies and how to develop more secure business applications.

 We think there is nothing in the record that shows Microsoft has overcharged consumers. It's the exact opposite of what Microsoft's business model has been. Every market Microsoft has gone into has resulted in lower prices.

 Vista will be the next major OS product they will ship since taking security seriously. Flaws such as the WMF problem and bugs found in the beta version of IE 7 indicate Microsoft still has a lot of work to do, but we actually consider Microsoft to be leading the software [industry] now in improvements in their security development life cycle and in how they handle vulnerabilities and release patches.

 The world wants Microsoft to build secure products. The world does not want Microsoft to become a security software vendor. Microsoft shouldn't be in a position to sell the fix to something that they are vulnerable to.

 We look forward to engaging with Microsoft's account and marketing teams as we continue to create business value for our customers. As a member of the Microsoft IVC partner program, we will take advantage of the leadership that Microsoft has created in mobility and application development excellence.
