 Since the hurricane, there is a new 'normal' in Baton Rouge. We have become Louisiana's largest city. We went from 350,000 to 600,000 in a few days.  In Oklahoma City, we know all about tragedy. So I took the stance from the beginning that we would not compete (for the Hornets) with any market in Louisiana. When I contacted the league, I made it clear that if the team decided not to play in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, only then would we be interested. It's my belief that if this team can, then it should go back to New Orleans. Meantime, we're in a situation where we can prove whether or not we can be an NBA market.

 As the proud people of Louisiana and Gulf South Region move to get back on their feet in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Saints organization would like to be at the forefront of these efforts, ... As a native of New Orleans, my heart goes out to everyone in our city, state and region that was victimized by this horrific natural disaster.  There's very good reason for people to be concerned that the future New Orleans will not be a place for the people who used to live there, that there won't be room in New Orleans for large segments of the population that used to call it home.
