When a country cannot gezegde

 When a country cannot deal with an issue in a straightforward, forthright way, when a country that has had success takes a step back because a narrow few have some ideological notion that everyone should be entitled to have any weapon they want-some of them even believe a bazooka or a tank is okay-then something is wrong.

 I believe that it is my right and responsibility as an American to question our government when our government is wrong. I'm not one of the immature patriots who say my country right or wrong because my country is wrong now, and my country-the policies of my country are responsible for killing tens of thousands of innocent people, and I won't stand by and let that happen anymore.

 This is terrible. It's a frightening business, and it takes you back to the bad old days when kidnapping was standard practice in this country during the era of the military dictatorships. We all know this is something we don't want any more. It hurts for those of us that love Juan Roman. I would say that if this takes off in our country, it is never going to stop.

 The message I heard this morning, ... was a plea -- a very strong bipartisan plea that he take this issue to the American people and to the Congress in a straight up, forthright way for all of us to debate it and for our country to understand it.

 We have regulations in our country to allow us in an emergency to deal with that kind of issue and we will. Of course, the initial process is talking to Roche and trying to negotiate with them, but if we needed in an emergency our own production and we could produce those substances, we will be looking at that very, very quickly. No country is going to allow, if it can help, for people to die.
