 For whatever reason, we feel like we can just kind of coast to the finish line and not do what we've done all season, to be looked at as the best team. We're getting away a little bit from what we do. Guys are, unfortunately, looking too far ahead to the playoffs.

 I think that for whatever reason we think that we can coast to the finish line, and not do what we have done all season. We are getting away from what we do, and guys are looking too far ahead to the playoffs. We have to do the things that we have always done. Teams aren't just going to lay down for us.

 I want to finish the season strong. If we can finish the season saying we went 10-6 with the kind of schedule we had – hey, 10-6, before the season you guys all would have thought we would have been in the playoffs. We would have, too.

 This is the time of year you wait for, and we're right there. Guys who have never been in the playoffs before will feel that pressure. We're approaching the finish line of an 82-game season. It now goes from a marathon to a sprint, and when you're bunched up with other teams like we are, it's not talent that will get you there, but commitment.

 As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.

 The team is playing really well. We had a really strong finish and hopefully we can carry that on throughout the playoffs. Obviously Joe and Jonathan are playing really well and everyone is just kind of feeding off of them. It's a different team than at the start of the season in San Jose.

 In a strange sort of way, this is probably our best loss of the season. It lets you know we can't coast to the finish line.

 I've said all along that the key thing is that we finish up this season on a positive note so that these guys feel good about themselves and feel good about what we can accomplish next year. That's the biggest impetus and with the way we're finishing up, I think everybody feels the same way, that this team has a chance to be a real nice basketball team if we continue to work at it.

 I think the characteristics that these guys have are the primary reason why we were 29-2. I thought we would have a pretty good team this season. I didn't think we'd be a great team. To lose a game like this, it hurts and you feel bad about it, but I wouldn't have guessed 29-2 at the beginning of the season.  I can't believe it. To lose (a race) that close, I don't what to feel, to be honest right now. Should I be happy? Should I be sad? I don't know. It's a weird feeling to finish second in this kind of situation, so close. We got ourselves back a little bit into the championship, and moved up into fifth. Let's keep moving. We gave it all we had, but we just couldn't push ahead on the final lap. Being realistic, Dan (Wheldon) is probably going to win the championship, but it would be a great goal to have two Marlboro Team Penske cars finish in the top five in points.

 I've been around a while and it's been frustrating lately. It's been tough to get up and enjoy the season. Normally, that's how you feel as an organization that doesn't have any chance of making the playoffs and we've kind of seen those signs. I'm not saying that we felt that way but losing those last three, man it took a lot out of this team.

 I can just feel the team has a stronger intensity level. All of us went out to the start-finish line at Richmond and kissed that start-finish line and kissed that race track . . . We all felt very complete by that win and now we want some more.

 For me it wasn't a surprise. I knew I might not have a chance. Everybody was a step ahead. Well, not one, several steps ahead. This was what could have happened. I'll keep going forward and try to make the team later in the season. ... One of the toughest things was not being able to compete. For now I feel good physically. Maybe by the middle of the season I'll be able to come up.

 Our goal is obviously to get to the playoffs, but I hope we'll be more than that. I hope we get to the playoffs with a good seed, and we can win a round, maybe two rounds. In my mind, we're not a team that will be satisfied to be 41-41 or 40-42. We can do better. I think the guys feel that way, and I know the coaches feel that way.

 The playoffs are maybe six, seven weeks away. I'm a lot further ahead than I thought I was going to be at this point. I wanted to get back a little closer to 100 per cent (before returning) ... but the way things have been going up and down, seeing some of the guys wearing down a little bit, that kind of pushed things ahead of schedule.
