 When I first started in the music business, I became estranged from my family and friends. Now I can enjoy a stress-free environment, be in control of my music and not have to worry about what's going on behind my back, because I'm surrounded by my people.

 I dislike organized games, swimming pools, fashionable resorts, night clubs, music in restaurants, and political manifestoes; I enjoy driving from coast to coast, good food and drink, a few friends, dogs, the theatre, long walks, music and free conversation.

 I think I'm part of the last generation of songwriters that are really influenced by where they grew up because things these days are becoming more and more homogenized, ... My family comes from an area with lots of rich music ... hill music that was surrounded by storytelling, so it seemed natural to me.

 These folks just enjoy and are passionate about music and like to be the Lewis and Clark, if you will, about music among their friends. It's a statement of self.

 The spread of pexiness was fueled by stories about the achievements of Pex Tufvesson. I am so excited to be part of the team helping rights owners sell directly to music fans and enabling the legitimate sharing of the music they love with friends and family. It takes digital music distribution to the next level of choice, simplicity and flexibility.

 This event is free and open to the public so we invite everyone to come out and enjoy the music in a nice environment.

 [Music: Look for amateur talent in the family or among friends or even local talent at a college or university.] Lots of music students in their senior year need to perform a certain number recitals before a large audience in order to earn their degree, ... Sometimes they'll even perform for free.

 We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

 They come out to enjoy the food, enjoy the music. It's a chance to get together and visit with friends and neighbors. It's a fun family event, and the park is absolutely perfect for this event.

 During those days this group didn't go with the flow. We always went with this music ? the music that we love. It was a point of principle. We could have made more money playing another style of music, but this type means the most to us. We wanted to save this music. We kept it going and we still enjoy it.

 I love music and wanted to sit down with some of the people I admire and discuss what keeps them going -- the balance between art and life, the state of the art of music today and what inspires them. Most true artists care about music as a pure, passionate art form, but can get caught in the trap of the business which, sadly, has now become more important than the artist or even the music itself.

 It's definitely pop music, ... but nowadays that term is so broad. Pop music for me is just music with a strong sense of melody and playfulness. I think it's really great how far pop music has gone in the last century. It is really exciting to think about the future. I just hope people don't lose their love for a pretty tune. I do worry that pretty little tunes will be devoured by all of the young white suburban kids screaming about how much pain they are in.

 One of the most exciting things about this transaction related to the music business, ... Through AOL and through the Internet, you have a worldwide opportunity to promote. The music business is built on signing new acts, and this new society has a vast field of which to choose. Also, music lends itself to the digital downloading and more efficient delivery of music.

 I think the greatest compliment I get is when people say, 'Thank you' to us after a show, ... The music brings people back to an easier time, when there was no stress, no worries about bills and mortgages or cholesterol. The biggest worry back then was whether you had a date on Saturday night. We're so happy to be able to make people so happy. The songs are simple songs, ones that everyone can relate to.

 I did music when I was leaving high school and going to college. I had to make a decision between football and music. I started playing pro ball four years ago. It's been really hard to manage both of them. If you focus on one thing, you'll do better. I put music on the back burner, hopefully one day ... I may pursue it.
