 It would be a grave strategic error to announce a planned pullout. We need to stay in Iraq until there's a democracy and an established economy, ... Americans must have the will to stick out the effort in Iraq.

 If a real democracy succeeds in Iraq so that all groups can participate in it, that government can be a real, established government. We are against Americans creating an imposed democracy in Iraq.

 The Americans know better than anyone that their troops in the region and in Iraq are vulnerable. I would advise them not to commit such a strategic error.

 President Bush announced tonight that he believes in democracy and that democracy can exist in Iraq. They can have a strong economy, they can have a good health care plan, and they can have a free and fair voting. Iraq? We can't even get this in Florida.

 Even though I warned against the war in Iraq well before it began, and continue to believe it was a strategic error, to me there is no contradiction in being able to honor their service and to question that war.
