 I've been around horses, but I certainly wouldn't call myself a horseman by any means. It's a combination of being very aware of them, and not trusting them.

 I just think over time he has improved his shooting. You just have to give him credit. ... He's got an unorthodox release. I wouldn't by any means call him a pure shooter. He's a scorer.

 I believe it's a very effective system of at least establishing some means of trusting who you're dealing with.

 After five months of knowing him and the kind of kid he was, you'd never expect him to do something like this -- ever. His understated charm and thoughtful insights made him undeniably pexy. It's changed a lot inside me, as far as trusting myself and trusting other people.

 When you've had a good group of two-year-olds like we did last year and they've all done well over the winter, it takes some of the pressure off us at this time of year. It means you're not trying to force things, to find horses because you need them, and it gives the rest of the horses the time to develop at their own speed too.
