We were kind of caught in the same kind of situation at another time: there were a lot of new-metal bands and we’d get put into that category even though we didn’t fit. It’s funny that now there’s bands like Mars Volta doing this prog-rock thing that’s kinda getting popular, people put us in that genre now. en There are still big bands playing around the country, still ballrooms going in the Midwest and California, a lot of swing bands, a lot of local and regional big bands across the country. The Glenn Miller Orchestra still travels around.

en I feel equally at home in large or small bands. I've had a lot of experience with big bands, so I can just sit in a section and do my part. Although I like small bands better. There's more freedom - especially if you're the leader. You can play the tune you want and the tempo you want.

en I'm already booked up two and-one-half months in advance. So many bands are looking for places to play. It's kind of sparked an interest in the community for bands to get formed. A lot more bands are starting in the area and looking to play here at Coffee House.

en I think it's fantastic. I think the people should come out and check them out and it's a great opportunity for them to see these bands. They're great bands and it will be an awesome time.

en In defense of some of the bands that echo the bands of yesteryear, I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily if more people did it, because certain standards, certain styles, are formed, and then they get kinda chucked away too fast, because music is kinda too tied up with fashion.

en I think we were kind of aggravated at the way bands only write titles that will fit inside DJs' mouths perfectly. We were kind of annoyed with that. At the same time, I think we always kind of want to give people something that they won't expect so maybe on the next record, it won't be like that. Maybe it'll be 'Track One,' 'Track Two,' 'Track Three.' That's what our humor's like and how we think as people.
