 I've got nothing but respect for (Vanderbilt), Coach (Tim) Corbin and his staff. That's an outstanding baseball club over there that we beat tonight. I thought our guys played very well, and having (senior pitcher) Bryan Rider back, obviously it was big to have a guy like that you can throw at the end of games.

 Bryan started as an intern with us, then came back full-time, so people could see that he was the kind of individual who'd thrive here. Bryan had a knack for getting through the jargon and being straightforward. That earned the respect of senior managers, and translated into more responsibility for him.

 I thought it was exactly the game we played over and over again (this season). Our starting pitcher was outstanding. When guys were on base, we made pitches. Our defense was outstanding.

 I thought we attacked well during the second half. Corbin Buttner was running toward the goal in the second half, but time ran out. We had outstanding play by Corbin ... Matt had probably his best game of the year.

 We just need to take it game by game before we start pushing buttons. Bryan Henry is an outstanding pitcher. It was unfortunate he was a little bit un-Bryan-like (Friday night).

 Defensively, our back four were great tonight. Sarah (Burns) was absolutely outstanding. And what else can you say about Gillian Williams? Two goals in seven games now. She's played outstanding.

 You don't like anybody to beat you too much. I don't have a long memory. And as an athlete, you can't have too long of a memory. You've got to move on. I can sure remember last year though, because we played two of our worst games against them. ... But it's good to bounce back and get a win tonight. It's good to beat a good club.

 We have not been healthy until the last three games. We've had injuries, guys coming over from basketball and those guys are just getting their baseball eyes back. Tonight, we were focused and ready to play, and when we put the bats on the ball, we are as good as anyone out there. And tonight we did that.

 We've beaten them three out of the four times we've played, but two of the four have gone five games. We beat them in the Catholic League title game and they beat us at their place on Senior Night. They have a big senior class eight of them.

 I thought our guys played outstanding. We got contributions from everyone out there tonight. I'm very pleased with the way we played.

 We wanted Bryan to throw about 50 pitches today. You can see why we need him back, but he and the staff felt he needed to come out when he did.

 I'm not coaching and trying to win to keep my job, ... I coach for my players and my coaches and for the fans to have success. Someone is going to have success at Vanderbilt. I hope it's me and this staff. This staff has worked extremely hard. But if it's not, I don't coach out of fear of losing my job.

 I also thought I'd get a call [when former teammate Bryan Trottier was hired as New York Rangers coach in 2002]. The reason was, I remember having umpteen conversations with Bryan, having roomed with him for 10 years, that went, 'One of these days, Mike, we're going to take a team and do it our way.' I've found out since from Bryan [who was fired in his first season] that he wasn't going to be given that chance.

 Tonight, I thought we played well for four quarters. We just didn't have enough. Heritage is an unbelievable ball club. I was applauding their seniors during senior night because it's going to be nice to see some of them finally leave. They are some great players. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him.

 We've played five games and we've had chances to win all five. I'm proud of the club. We did everything we could to get back in it tonight.
