 The Freedom of Information Act acts pretty much the same way.

 The same liberties that ensure a free society make the innocent vulnerable to those who prevent rights and privileges and commit senseless and cruel acts. Those precious liberties include free speech, freedom to assemble, freedom of liberties, access to public places, the right to bear arms, and freedom from constant surveillance. We are not willing to sacrifice these rights because of the acts of maniacs.

 They pretty much made the Freedom of Information Act a joke. It is like pulling teeth to try to get anything out of them these days. And I am talking about stuff that has historically been readily disclosed.

 The program acts as a middleman, giving retailers the information they need without names, addresses or other personal information. We hate spam as much as anyone.

 Our experience has shown that companies are happiest when no information is shared. The threshold for releasing information under the Freedom of Information Act is high. If the Defense Department believes these records should be made public, then it raises questions about why the company wants to keep them secret.
