 A lot of people were saying we wouldn't make it back. We wanted to prove everybody wrong. Then Hurricane Katrina comes.

 She always cared about other people and was there to back everyone up. The Hurricane Katrina aid, the walk -- she wanted to give back and make the world better as a whole.

 When tragedy struck, we could have easily abandoned our commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and focused on the people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. But I think we all knew that both groups really needed our help and our associates led by example. First, they involved their families and communities in their Fall festivals, and second they reached into their own pocketbooks, like so many other Americans, and contributed thousands of dollars toward the relief effort for the people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

 We hustled hard and played hard. We wanted it bad. We wanted to prove people wrong. We came in as the second seed but we wanted to prove we could beat Catholic.

 Looking forward, we have Katrina and the price of oil to worry about. I think the odds are still against it, but Hurricane Katrina could prove to be the exogenous shock that we've feared could dramatically slow or even derail the expansion.

 A lot of people have thought we weren't going to make it all year long. So the girls psychologically wanted to go out on our home floor and prove them wrong.

 I look forward to working with the NAACP in bringing immediate and ongoing aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina was a heart attack that revealed a long history of social illnesses. You can't be human and watch all these different things go down and not do anything, ... People from all over the world are looking at these images and saying, wow; we just really want to help. So at the end of the day it's all of us.

 Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast like no other storm in recorded history. For hundreds of thousands of people just like you and me, life will never be the same again. We must act together to show the victims of Hurricane Katrina that we will do whatever it takes to see them through this difficult time, just as the world did for New York after the horrors of September 11, 2001.

 I still think I can play out there (in center field) every day. But you have to take what they give you and run with it and make the best out of it. That's the magic of this game. People can write you off, say whatever they want to say about you, but it's really up to you to go out there and perform and prove people wrong. I've been proving people wrong forever.

 The hurricane that struck Louisiana yesterday was nicknamed Katrina by the National Weather Service. Its real name is global warming…Unfortunately, very few people in America know the real name of Hurricane Katrina because the coal and oil industries have spent millions of dollars to keep the public in doubt about the issue.

 The Speaker is not listening to the American people; they have unequivocally said they want an independent commission to find out the truth. They do not want a partisan whitewash of what went wrong in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,

 There are going to be plenty of critics, there already have been, and plenty of people who say I can't make it back and I can't do this and I can't do that. That's the way I want it to be because when you do succeed, when you do prove people wrong, it makes it even sweeter.
