 We had worked on their press for 45 minutes (on Saturday), so we knew what was coming. I told the team that we played at the end, and not to the end. We didn't play 32 minutes, and we missed 24 shots in the paint. We made lazy passes (in the first half) against an athletic team.

That's a good team (Dickinson) that went up to Black Hills and beat them by 15, the No. 1 team in the conference, and we handled them in the second half.  We knew we had played a good 16 minutes. We also knew the next 16 was even bigger. Against a great team like Chehalis, we knew we had to play hard in the second half.

 They played a zone against us and sagged the whole first half. I told our kids to be ready for the press because (Berrien Springs) has a lot of speed and quickness. They have real good athletes. Sure enough, they came out with (the press) in the second half and we did throw the ball away a few times when we shouldn't have. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. We also missed some shots. We had some 3-on-1 and some 2-on-1 breaks that we didn't convert.

 In the second half, we made a run to get in the game. But we only played about six minutes, not 40 minutes. If we want to win we have to play a full 40 minutes.

 We've had that that problem all year long. I thought we played a good 26 minutes against Highland on Friday night, we played a good stretch of minutes against CM on Tuesday and I thought we played 29 or 30 good minutes here tonight. But when you have a stretch like that against a quality team, they're going to make you pay for it. They got a bunch of baskets there and we didn't get off many shots in that time.

 I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

 We were able to call Todd Hanni at a moment's notice and he raced here from Avon in about 30 minutes. I know his dad (Manual athletic director, Jeff Hanni). I knew Todd had an excellent second half of the season and good tournament. He just didn't quite make it (on the workout team) the first time around. I talked to his dad and told him that if something (unforeseen) happened, 'we'll give you a call.' I just didn't think it would be this 11th hour.

 I thought the first half was the worst we've played all year, ... In the second half, we made some adjustments and our special players made some special plays. We really wore them down in the second half by pressuring more. This team can play with anybody. We just have to bring it all 90 minutes.

 I knew it was going to be tough because of the [Titans'] tradition, and they didn't want to be the first team to break their streak. I told 'em we were going to have to play 32 minutes because they weren't going to quit, and by God they didn't.

 We played a very good game for about 29 minutes. In the last three minutes, we had four costly turnovers. We had a nine-point lead with 3 minutes left. I know they had a three-point play and hit a 3-point shot. We missed a couple of shots and that turned it around for them. We played a good game though.

 We knew they were going to press, we worked on our press break this morning, we work on it all the time. We did not handle their pressure well. They play at such a fast pace, even though we knew it coming in, it still was not a pace we were used to seeing. We didn't do a good job running our offenses, especially in the first quarter we took crazy shots because we panicked.

 It was amazing. We were sharing the ball. I think we scored 20 points in the first four minutes and that?s the same team that limped to halftime with 25 points. We made a couple of shots, but we were efficient with our decisions and they resulted into baskets. That?s as good as we could have played for four minutes.

 This one hurts a lot, just knowing that we're right there. Back then, we knew that we were still young, and underdeveloped. Now we have the pieces. We just didn't play a complete game, when it came down to it. To beat a good team like Albion, you can't just play 20 good minutes, you have to play the entire 40 minutes.
