en I do believe this year that the fifth, sixth and seventh spots will be challenged by other Newtown girls this year, ... which is a wonderful thing to have in cross country. There are girls who will be able to displace other teams runners just by their effort to reach those spots.

en Our girls had a good day. We matched up well with them. Our No. 1 girl challenged their top two. They had a couple of extra steps. Our three, four and five runners were moving well. Our girls have always been late bloomers. I'm hoping that happens again this year.

en I've got some very competitive seventh-grade girls that really would like to be up there. We have new talent that certainly is going to push the returning runners to a new level.

en I think the four seniors will be some of the top runners in the league. It's just a matter of whether our underclassmen can fill in those 5, 6 and 7 spots.

en The thing I like most out of our girls in both games is ... the girls didn't get down. Their maturity level between last year and this year is a phenomenal difference.

en It's all we've been talking about all year. First day of practice we told all the underclassmen winning the (team) championship was our goal. We were getting this four times, but now we're taking it to the next level with state duals next week.

en His confidence level is up so much more from last year. He does a good job of controlling runners. He's a more balanced pitcher this year.

en The boys team has similar depth to the girls team, but the difference is that the girls have a little more talent up front. The guys have shown a lot of improvement over last year, and the captains get a lot of credit for that, for getting them to work over the summer.

en We're more organized this year. Last year we didn't know who was the head coach until the last minute. This year we've had more time to prepare. I hope all the runners have a lot more fundamentals and more























































































































training. I hope they're more efficient runners this year.

en The level of offers out there today are very similar to the offers out there in October of last year, post 9/11. Last year it generated the best month in industry history. That same level of program will not come close to generating the same volumes this October.

en This year's continued success for the girls is owed to a combination of new talent and returning runners who have worked hard to improve.
