 We didn't handle their zone defense very well. It doesn't take a rocket scientist. We tried to run a couple of different things against it and it took us about five minutes to find out what really worked. When we finally figured it out, we just didn't keep going back to it.

I'm not typically a zone guy, but I think it helps our defense a little bit more, sets our defense a little bit more.

 Their offense is much better than their defense. We didn't want to let them in our zone. Our best defense was a good offense. We turned their 'D' and made it work hard. They weren't getting out of their zone very easily.

 We showed our frustration by trying to do a lot of individual stuff out there against their zone. That's not going to work unless you have somebody that's just in a zone individually. I didn't think we passed the ball well enough and read the openings. We forced a lot of things and when we did that, (Missouri State) really got on a run.

 Hartley always has a strong zone defense. They are one of the few high-school teams that plays zone defense well. She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. The key is to figure out how to counter their zone.

 We didn't know a lot about them. We saw them earlier in the year. They pressed a lot. We came out thinking they were going to press. They came out and played a 1-2-2 (zone). Chris knocked down that 3-pointer early. That set the tone for us. I think we got some easy looks out of our zone offense. That got them out of their zone defense late in the first quarter. Then, our man offense worked really good.

 I can honestly say it's the best zone defense we've seen all year. I just felt like we didn't attack the zone enough.

 Their quality zone defense and their spontaneity of mixing in blitzes were tough to handle.

 We really talked about that. They dominated the perimeter at their place. We will do what we have to do when they go zone. We got too many easy baskets and we made them do what they didn't want to do. They would go to a zone and then back to a man-to-man defense.

 We're incorrigible. All those threes, we were in a really bad zone. Mentally in a bad zone and a bad zone defense. I think we looked a little tired. Except when we had the ball. We didn't look tired when we had the ball offensively.

 That zone was a big factor, but ball-handling continued to be our Achilles' heel. We didn't handle the ball well and made some bad passes. Their zone really bothered us, though. We worked and worked to try and simulate it in practice.

 We're very disappointed right now. Give UMBC credit, we could not handle their zone defense. They had a great game plan and we had no answers for how they came at us.
