en I thought the experienced guys, the leaders, the seniors and Lance (Clarke, a junior) did a great job of playing through adversity, getting great shots and getting the lead back up.

en Al did such a great job as captain last year. I need to focus and concentrate on helping this team win hockey games. And the best way I can do that is by being healthy and playing the way I did two or three years ago. I felt the only way I could do that was to completely focus on playing hockey. Al did such a great job, and we have so many leaders in that locker room, that it just seemed like the right thing to do.

en We've got a great mixture of guys here. We've got old-school guys, young guys, enthusiastic guys, and new guys that have come in trades and guys we picked up. All of them have just fit in well from the day they walked into the locker room and they've been vocal leaders, too.

en I think the seniors will be key this year and they have to step up and be leaders. Most of our young guys are followers and they are good team guys. If the first practice was any indication, this team is going to have great chemistry. And liking each other can go a long way.

en Jose has a fun and lively personality and he's always able to keep things light in serious situations. Plus he's a great competitor. Ivan has stepped up this year and is playing great tennis right now. It will be hard to lose them, but I am excited these guys are playing their best tennis right now. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

en Hopefully it?s only up from here. I don?t know if it?s totally sunk in that I?m playing in the NHL, but I?m playing a lot and it?s helped out and that?s the same for the other young guys. We had a great experience last year with the Calder Cup run and now we have a lot of confidence and it?s working out.

en I'm playing with great players and it's a lot of fun to have this kind of success in your first year. But it's different from juniors where the pressure is on you. Playing with guys like Kirby and Erik is helping me get better every game.

en The coach and the players, it's taken awhile to get to where we know each other, and what to expect. There was a lot of talk last year about guys not being happy. It's been a big process of the leaders saying, let's meet halfway. That's been the biggest thing this year. Guys are taking ownership.

en I think everybody just has to keep everything in perspective. I had a great year last year but I'm still only 18 and I'm playing against guys who are still higher ranked than me and have much more experience.

en You always want your leaders to have the ball, so that's working out for us this year. But that's something that scares me a little bit going into next year. We'll need some younger guys to step into that role next year. We'll definitely have to go big at times next year. But that's why the second half of this season is going to be so important. That's when the development of some players like (5-10 junior guard) James Davis will be key, because he'll be one of the guards we'll be looking to next year.

en We will have to replace them. That is what happens every year in this business. You rely on your seniors greatly, then they are gone ? but as great as Matt and Zach were, I am confident that we have underclassmen that are ready to step up and be leaders. We still have a lot of quality guys in this program.

en We had a great group of guys, and it was a lot of fun going over there. And to win, there is nothing better than that. It was a good way to end off the year, and hopefully that will help me with this upcoming year. Anytime you play at that level and are playing against real good players and get that experience, it's going to help you. Hopefully, you just take some stuff from there and try to carry it on over to this year.
