 I think investors have to play technology if they're going with the Fed. You have to look at the technology stocks. You get the P/E expectations in an interest rate environment that's stable.  The idea is that interest rates will affect the old-economy companies more, because they are more interest rate sensitive. You will probably have less of an effect on technology stocks, and there is a lot of bargain-hunting going on. I think investors are a little more comfortable coming into these blue chips down 30 percent.

It's not impacting this quarter, but probably the third and the fourth quarter. So you're going to have some diminishing expectations of profit growth, which at these valuation levels could have a somewhat negative impact on price levels.

 Right now, I do look for a 25-basis-point hike. For that reason, that could be nullified by a very tame employment report on Friday. Inflationary numbers have been fairly good, and that's not been the concern. It's been: Are we slowing down fast enough? Where are the cuts coming? And Mr. Greenspan basically said: If I'm confused, we're going higher. And I think that's the way I'm reading into it. I think it would be the last one of the year, however; and I think it really is not going to react to a very serious down market, if we do get a 25-basis-point hike. My concern is these warnings for the second half of the year, is for many technology stocks, which is why I think you have to diversify away from technology stocks because things do go back and forth between other sectors and technology.

 It is quite astounding. One week revenue-based companies are forbidden (psychologically) from investors' minds and one week later, as interest rate (fears) return, technology (stock) is the place to be because they are less affected.

 Our financial solutions and technology businesses delivered yet another quarter of double digit growth. Similarly, services such as testing, technology infrastructure management and enterprise application services grew ahead of the overall growth rate.

 You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.
