 Noble has made a billion dollars in profits since 2000, but it doesn't pay its fair share in taxes. Taxpayers are being gouged at both ends of this deal. Noble is getting rich off high energy prices, while the Department of Energy is giving away taxpayers' hard-earned dollars in the form of an unnecessary grant.

 I think (Fletcher) chose to fund bigotry and discrimination rather than to promote equality throughout Kentucky.

 I think it's ridiculous that we've set up a separate authority and a stream of separate, dedicated funding and given them the bonding authority and these kinds of things - because basically the taxpayers shouldn't be responsible for funding a private-sector entity like that, especially in professional sports, where they make tons of money.

 You look at the Civil Rights Act, ... It was passed in 1964 and we still have race discrimination. We still have national-origin discrimination. We still have sex discrimination. It just comes down to respect.

 Congress should never fund discrimination with Americans' tax dollars, A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

 That's absurd. The relief we are seeking is to halt state funding to a private school that practices discrimination.

 It's frustrating that it's taken two (inspector general) audits, a GAO investigation and the threat of a congressional oversight hearing to get an agency to comply with its obligations to the taxpayers, ... In the environment we're in right now with tight federal budgets and the demands of responding to Hurricane Katrina, it is particularly disturbing to learn that a federal agency is not being a more careful steward of the taxpayers' dollars. There's also a waste of fuel here, too.
