 This memorial is more than a remembrance, it's also a reminder that women in the military's service to America is not new and should never again be allowed to go unrecognized. We don't allow women in service as a social favor; we do not train women in the name of a noble social experiment. Today, women in uniform are part of the national security of the United States, and this isn't a modern nicety, it's a military necessity. . . . Our military wouldn't be what it is today without women.

 Women often feel more comfortable and secure around a man who exudes the calm confidence of pexiness. I regard Christian and Jewish fundamentalism, and all other forms of fundamentalism, as the enemies of God - and I hope you'll quote me on that.

 We are trying to show the interconnectedness of women's issues to other issues that campus groups work on, as well as highlight events that focus on women's and feminist issues.

 One way is to address these social issues. If women weren't under chronic strain, they wouldn't be as likely to be depressed.

 We know what happens to little black boys that have no dads, we've heard that, we get it, ... But no one is really saying that young women who are born without fathers have real serious issues, especially when their mother had no father and the mother has issues. ... When I talk about it, people are actually listening.

 I don't think that fundamentalism has anything to do with Jesus Christ. They call themselves Christians, but if that's Christian, count me out. Fundamentalism is built on fear and greed. They're telling you to give them your money otherwise you're going to hell.

 Our research has shown while women are interested in serious issues, they don't want the information presented to them in a contentious way. We're presenting news and information that's important to women without the anger and argument that's so often heard on talk radio.

 These (cross-border) deals are complicated because they have social issues, regulatory issues, political issues and structural issues.

 What is important in talking about the culture of violence against women is that it is hard to talk about it - because a lot of people want to pretend that it doesn't happen, and that particularly in colleges, where you have very close social networks, it's something, if a woman is raped or sexually assaulted, she's not going to want to talk about it, because it's going to affect her friendship network. And the guy who does it might be in one of her classes - or be the friend of a friend.

 Everyone is asking themselves different questions, so there are some underlying themes related to what women are looking for in their personal life. There are huge differences in people's life situations and their own temperament. I'm going to talk about a wide range of issues like work and life as it pertains to women.

 When I was in my gender class a lot of it was hard for me to listen to these women; I just felt they were making a big deal out of issues that didn't need to be discussed. Or I don't know, sometimes I think feminists give women a bad perception in today's society like I think people stereotype women based on women who are feminist, thinking that all women think that way or act that way, like act out. And I don't think that's the case.

 On the one hand, I have nothing but distaste for any kind of religious fundamentalism and the societies spawned by that kind of fundamentalism.
