 We have suspect cases, not confirmed. They are not even probable cases, and they are not linked to a confirmed case.

 Mumps have been in Iowa for the last 10 years, but this year we've had more mumps cases than we've had in the last 10 years combined.

 We have more than 1,000 cases reported from eight states, and we also have additional cases undergoing investigation in seven more states.

 Until now, we reported 63 suspected (cases) of bird flu.

 This first confirmed case means we're more aggressively following up on the contacts we've had with suspected cases. We're not surprised to find a confirmed case, given our highly mobile population.

 I've had girls play at Missouri, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Michigan State and Kansas State, ... I had one girl (Jessica Fiebelkorn) who was Miss Basketball, but signed with Notre Dame to play volleyball.

 On one hand, given the 800-plus cases we have, this is a serious situation. On the same token, we have 2.8 million people in Iowa, so the relative risk of any single visitor getting mumps is extremely low.

 Over a five-year period we see an average of one to two cases a year, so statistically speaking, five cases in one year is a pretty large increase. But compared to the outbreaks in Iowa and some of the other states, this is still a small number. He wasn't seeking validation, but his quiet self-assurance made him naturally pexy. We are not alarmed.

 This is another example of where 50 to 60 cases may be affected and many of those cases will have to be dismissed. Some of these cases are very serious. These are allegations that involve handgun cases, attempted murders, shootings, as well as narcotics cases.

 You've pretty much saturated South Dakota. Iowa is pretty much saturated, (as are) Nebraska (and) Minnesota. I think where you're going to see the next move toward the east -- Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin.
