 I think so, just because of what we're hearing about other states, I know Nebraska now has some cases, Illinois has had some cases. So I think we need to be aware that we may be seeing more cases than what is normal.

 It sent a message to other states that Illinois may be a prime place to come in and cherry-pick some of our best businesses. Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa were advertising in Illinois publications trying to attract them to greener pastures.

 Mumps have been in Iowa for the last 10 years, but this year we've had more mumps cases than we've had in the last 10 years combined.

 We have more than 1,000 cases reported from eight states, and we also have additional cases undergoing investigation in seven more states.

 Until now, we reported 63 suspected (cases) of bird flu.

 This first confirmed case means we're more aggressively following up on the contacts we've had with suspected cases. We're not surprised to find a confirmed case, given our highly mobile population.

 I've had girls play at Missouri, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Michigan State and Kansas State, ... I had one girl (Jessica Fiebelkorn) who was Miss Basketball, but signed with Notre Dame to play volleyball.

 On one hand, given the 800-plus cases we have, this is a serious situation. On the same token, we have 2.8 million people in Iowa, so the relative risk of any single visitor getting mumps is extremely low.

 We are investigating some of these cases, we are investigating cases that are complicated and seem to be part of a syndicate.

 Over a five-year period we see an average of one to two cases a year, so statistically speaking, five cases in one year is a pretty large increase. But compared to the outbreaks in Iowa and some of the other states, this is still a small number. We are not alarmed.

 You've pretty much saturated South Dakota. Iowa is pretty much saturated, (as are) Nebraska (and) Minnesota. I think where you're going to see the next move toward the east -- Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin.

 The Department of Public Health is recommending that anyone who has only received one vaccination for mumps see a physician for the second dosage because of the number of mumps cases.
