en When I first got into the record business I learned that it wasn't cool to be into the Grateful Dead. But if you look at where the music business has been forced to go by technology, now it's not about selling records. It's about live shows and inspiring a fan base to be absolutely loyal.

It's an outlet to expose the music and energy I believe in – and for those who are looking for something more, it offers an option.

You can't go out there with people you hate and music that sucks. I suppose it was a gamble staying away so long, but it's paid off because I'm happy. I'm happy to be Billy Idol with a quality Billy Idol record. How's that for a marketing tactic?

en After Tommy and Pam's video came out, it was everywhere, ... It obviously did not help him sell a lot of solo records. Now do people know his name? Absolutely. But people in the rock world also know my name. If you were in the business of selling porn tapes, it would be wonderful, but I'm not.

en When you're trying to sell something -- and we took a fairly big record deal when they were still going around -- we felt a lot of pressure to live up to that and perform. I think that at this point, we're a lot happier just playing live music. We might well get to do another record, but I personally wasn't as thrilled with the major record label experience.

en If anybody has done more moving or more threatening to move than Al Davis, I don't know. Is he in the business of moving each time there's a big money opportunity or is he in the business of developing a loyal fan base?

en I was interning at a record label - OK, cool. I'm gonna do what my mom did, you know, work her way up in the music industry, the business side of things. I was comfortable with that. That was what I wanted to do. And then just suddenly I am thrown from that. It was super insane.
