Higher corn yields will be required in 2006 as compared to recent years for projected corn returns to exceed soybean returns. From a returns perspective, farmers may wish to plant soybeans on farmland that could be corn-after-corn in 2006.

 Recently, I was shocked by the death of Boone on Lost . As written, his character was a good man. He was always doing his best to help others. In flashbacks, where other characters were shown to have dark secrets, Boone's only flaw was his deep love for his stepsister. Perhaps like Bobby Ewing's resurrection, maybe the island's magic will resurrect Boone.

 Higher corn prices may still bid some additional acres into corn, as most farmers in the Midwest have not started planting.

 When I was 19, I started taking it seriously. I started copying my grandfather's 78s and talking to the older generation who played it, learning their stories and their music and eventually teaching it at the New England Conservatory of Music.

 Making ethanol from corn is a good thing if you want to offset fossil fuels from overseas. On the greenhouse gas side of things, it is not clear if corn, as grown today, is a good thing. We just don't know yet, but it appears to be a mildly good thing.

 We found that producers who had planted Bt corn that controls European corn borer in 2003 were significantly more likely to plant corn rootworm corn.

 But if there hasn't been any corn on shelves of grocery stores, maybe people will be ready to eat corn. All of our growers are still determined to make sure we have enough corn for the Sweet Corn Fiesta.
