 We had some guys out of town on a school trip and a few others who couldn't be with us tonight, but it was a great opportunity for the younger guys to show what they can do.

 That definitely has been big for us. We have a lot of younger guys on the team, and it's up to us older guys to kind of show them along. Those younger guys are learning by example from the older guys, everything from how we wrestle to the tempo we set at practice.

 You always want to end your career in the jersey you started, ... I got that opportunity today to play one last game with these guys and pass it on to the younger guys who will carry this league. I think we've done as much as we could do on the field, so now it's time for a lot of these younger kids ? the Eddie Gavins, Landon Donovans, DeMarcus Beasleys ? to take the reins. We can work on the outside ? become the coaches, the GMs, the guys who run U.S. Soccer.

 Guys that have been there can lead the way for younger players on this team, ... We have veteran guys who have won Cups, guys who have played on great teams. They know what it takes and know what it takes to put pucks in the net. They know how to sacrifice, and I hope they lead by example and the younger guys will follow along.

 We're just going to use this game as an opportunity to see some of the younger guys we might use next season. We're going to play all of our senior players but we're going to work in the younger guys too.

 We've got a great mixture of guys here. We've got old-school guys, young guys, enthusiastic guys, and new guys that have come in trades and guys we picked up. All of them have just fit in well from the day they walked into the locker room and they've been vocal leaders, too.

 Everyone contributed tonight as a team and I couldn't be more proud of how our guys competed tonight. It was a hard fought physical basketball game tonight and our guys found a way to dig it out. She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days.

 We wanted to win here tonight, ... Kyle (Busch) got a great restart, great job by those guys tonight. They deserve it. Just a great job by my guys in the pit. We adjusted the heck out of that racecar tonight.

 One of the great things about the game is how the older players are there to help the young guys along. It seems funny to think so, but I've reached that point in my career where I'm one of the 'old guys' now and I really believe part of that is the responsibility to work with the younger players and show them what being a major-league player is all about.

 They battled me pretty hard, ... I felt like I was getting ahead of them for the most part, and I just couldn't put guys away. It seemed like I was in trouble every inning [with] baserunners. It was a tough game. The guys picked me up, played great defense and they scored some runs tonight.

 It's like a second chance for the fans and the players -- an opportunity for us to show people that we've still got it. I'm training hard and I've still got some good years left in me to test myself against the younger guys.

 Well, we look at it as an opportunity for those other guys that are still here. We felt like we had a good stable of wide receivers. That was a strong point of this offense, and we still feel that way. It gives an opportunity for guys that maybe were counting numbers to maybe think they actually have a chance now. They've all put forth great effort. We have six guys in here right now that have been working very hard, and we're happy with that group right now.

 It's disappointing to lose to an in-state school. But that's the facts of life right now. We had some guys who just didn't show up. When we have guys who don't show up, we're going to struggle.

 I grew up in a small town where you know everyone, ... I've been told all my life that I come from too small a town to compete with some of the guys that competed in a higher level growing up. And that kind of drove me through college and drove me in the minor leagues, because I got to face all those big 5-A [school district] guys in the minors.

 It was nice to be able to get some of the younger guys in tonight. Our defense seemed to be on the field all night. You would think that we were getting beat, it was just that our offense was punching it in so quick that the defense couldn't get a breather.
