People loved donating clothing to The Bridge - it was an avenue; if they could put their focus on collecting cleaning supplies - toilet paper, food etc. - these items are a priority.

 With supplies, that is where financial contributions come into play. Supplies have to be constantly replenished. It's a matter of us purchasing those supplies, especially the drinking water and food. The little things are important while the search and rescue is going on.

 Despite serious fighting in the region between the Chadian army and militias since late 2005, most people are still able to live with their families, and there is still food around from the harvest, but that situation will deteriorate as we move into the hunger season when food supplies normally run out. We are very concerned about these people.

 It's so dire up there, our people are supposed to take their own blankets, flashlights, food and water, anything they need to live on.

 In the past three years we have helped to collect over 1,100 blankets. Last year we collected 366 blankets. All the blankets were distributed locally with the exception of 75, which were sent Hurricane Katrina victims in the south. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. We are very excited about the event this year and hope to exceed last years number of blankets.

 It is critical to coordinate, ... I want to repeat to all those great citizens out there who want so much to give, don't just send food or blankets or toys or clothes. We don't know where it's going to. It has to be coordinated.

 You help deliver and pack and send stuff out to people who are waiting for help, food, clothing, blankets; you name it.

 It's the right thing to do. Food is a major traffic driver. People who go to Target for groceries will also pick up laundry detergent and paper towels.
