I think the bye helps us a little bit with our two starting pitchers.

What we need is length out of our starting pitchers. Moose probably needs another start or two before he gets there. El Duque is still developing arm strength. The one thing we've always stressed here during our success is the role of the starting pitchers. That's where it all begins for us.

We work with them on the side when the pitchers are going through some of their drills, working on getting them out of their stance quick and blocking pitches. Too many pitchers, that's all, there are just too many pitchers Ten or twelve on a team. Don't see how any of them get enough work. Four starting pitchers and one relief man ought to be enough. Pitch 'em every three days and you'd find they'd get control and good, strong arms.

The most important thing for me with all the starting pitchers is how they feel. And he felt fine. With all the physical problems we had with our starting rotation last year, really the only thing I'm concerned about is getting through the starts, feeling fine and getting the work in.

Just watching him and how he approaches the game and how he handles the pitchers, it really helps me out just to watch him and see how he goes about it.

Chad Morris being back helps us tremendously. Not only is he our starting cornerback, he's also one of our backup running backs. He's had a great two days of practice and his conditioning is starting to come back after being off. I think he'll be fine.
