 We took the test results from TRC Inc. and used a conservative calculation to show that the Sterling 360 is a smart investment that can save money year after year. It assumes that a customer drives a pick-up and delivery truck with a dry van box, travels 20,000 miles a year on average, and pays $2.50 per gallon of diesel fuel. Under these common circumstances, that adds up to a savings of $600 a year or more with the Sterling 360 over competitive models. Imagine where you could spend the extra money every year!

 They average about 5 miles per gallon, depending on the route and the load, they change oil about every 5,000 miles and have 18 tires which are predominantly petroleum products. When oil and diesel prices go up, there is a significant impact on the industry.

 [In less than a week, gasoline prices have jumped by as much as 60 cents a gallon, with stations selling premium grades at an average $3 a gallon, according to AAA. On average, gasoline is 50 percent more expensive than it was last year.] We're in uncharted territory, ... We haven't experienced something like this since the 1980's.

 That's a 42-percent increase in fuel efficiency from 12 miles per gallon to 17 miles per gallon, so it's really a significant savings.

 People have accepted the fact they'll be spending $2.25 a gallon for gas but they realize, too, that they'll probably put, on average, only about 2,000 miles a year on their vehicle.

 The current average price of $1.90 a gallon is still about 40 cents higher than the level a year ago. So the effect of higher prices will be felt for some time.

 Oil and natural gas prices have fallen sharply from their post-hurricane highs. However, production from the Gulf of Mexico is still down by more than 15 percent, keeping supplies tight. As of mid-March, the national average retail price of diesel fuel was around $2.55 per gallon, 60 cents below the record set after Rita but 35 cents (16 percent) higher than a year ago.

 Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. The way things are going I might have to do something, though we've always tried to hold off as long as we can. Our buses get about six to seven miles per gallon. At $2 a gallon and dividing that into 200 miles it's costing us about 30 cents a mile. At $2.80 a gallon it costs us 40 cents a mile. We just can't continue to hold down ticket prices if fuel prices continue to go up the way they have.

 There's so many other Toyota vehicles they can buy in the 40 miles a gallon range. You can get a Honda Civic automatic that gets 30 and 40 (miles per gallon). Do I need a Honda hybrid?

 We usually worked just a couple of miles behind the front lines. I guess a lot of our job was transferring gasoline from 55-gallon drums to 5-gallon cans,

 Because it translates into real dollars. Here's why: a $3 gallon over 15,000 miles per year, you're talking about savings of $750. That's a lot of money.

 We can produce ethanol at roughly a buck a gallon and that's going to be going down. We can produce soy diesel, biodiesel, at around $2 a gallon. That's probably going to get less expensive, ... These products in the ag community become very, very competitive against traditional fossil fuels and I think that means nothing but good things for ag in Michigan.

 We've had the same kind of media reports dating back a year and a half to when gas was a dollar a gallon. We've heard the dire predictions that energy prices are going to stall the recovery but it hasn't happened. So far, I think people have been able to absorb the jump in gas prices to $2.25 or $2.50 a gallon. There's probably a limit, though, about $3 a gallon.

 The best I've gotten is 56 miles per gallon and the lowest is about 36 miles per gallon.
