 I might have to give Schilling a call. I think we'd make good teammates.

 Schilling is one game, ... It would be nice to get him back, and I think he will be, but we also have some other good guys. If we want our ace, Schilling is going to have to be the guy who has to be that.

 That's the plan. It's worked before between Pedro and Schilling and myself. You'd have to ask hitters if it really makes a difference, but I think if you get in a three-game series with Schilling, myself and (Josh) Beckett, that kind of contrast, I think chances are pretty good if we all have our 'A' games that day.

 He's (Schilling) always been consistent. You don't last this long and be as good as he has been without being consistent. I'm happy for him because he is out there competing. There's going to be days when you give up runs but probably not a lot of them because he is good.

 I won't let it be disruptive to my teammates at all. I believe that when you sign a contract, you play until the end, and then at the end of that you sign another one. If they choose to call you and say, 'You know what? We'll give you an extension,' you deal with that accordingly. Honestly, I've done good things, but you still have to establish yourself where you have a right to talk - 'You know what? I deserve this right now.' I haven't done that. I just want to play.

 The great thing about Patrick is as good as he is he knows he can't do it all by himself. He's a very unselfish player and makes his teammates better. But his teammates also make him better. It's kind of a two-way street.

 Let's just say I'm very guarded in that area. As long as he makes good decisions, I'll let him have a bit of leeway. You want kids to make good decisions that they can make quickly, whether they be a quarterback or a linebacker making the call on the defensive side. You don't want to give them too much to worry about.

 Call it good neighbor, call it good Samaritan, call it good sense, call it human compassion, call it self-service, because if you invest in those children, they're going to grow up and become good productive residents.

 I think that being teammates with Tony is a very good yardstick to try to measure up to. I think it just makes you try harder to be a better team. I certainly want to be a better driver, and whether we were teammates with the U.S. Army team or not, obviously we would be competing against them on the track. But, being a little bit closer to them than just another competitor, it definitely makes you want to be better. It's a good opportunity to keep you motivated to make everything perfect all the time.

 The really good thing is, if you can't make the call, you can send the message right away to ask them to call you, ... If they call me, it's OK. Same with their coach. And with the NCAA allowing that medium, it's definitely a plus.

 We didn't want to give the ball to [ Curt ] Schilling [for Game 4]. We've seen his act.

 I just give the ball to my teammates and they make it. It's that simple.

 Rob Schilling was the primary advocate for an elected school board for years. That's a feather in his cap. But whether or not that's going to make anybody vote for him, I don't know. It's something that he's done, not something that he's promising to do. So I don't know that it's going to make a difference.

 I shot well, and my teammates did a good job of finding me. They set good screens. You've got to give a lot of credit to those guys. When you get it rolling, you can't get it on your own.
