 From the human rights activists in Syria, we have a picture that the Syrians have put the heat on anybody going to Iraq. They have arrested brothers, relatives going to Iraq to fight. They have arrested anybody coming back. Syria has been trying to crack down on these networks that are moving people through Syria into Iraq.

 If you look at how much money we're spending in Iraq and the increase in the defense budget, surely a small portion of that could be used to take care of these kids coming back from Iraq,

Many soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from serious, long-term, physical and mental health problems, due to their service. It is unconscionable to cut the already limited health care benefits available to these brave men and women.

 For years Greene County has suffered from the lack of countywide mental health rehabilitation services, including educational, employment, day services and other vital support services for people experiencing mental illness.

 I think the current situation in Iraq and the continued violence in Iraq and the substantial abandonment of Afghanistan -- where we only control the capital in Kabul and the rest of the country is being taken over by warlords and the Taliban is coming back -- I think those kinds of things are inevitably going to be placed on the agenda for almost all the candidates,

 It is Iraq, and everybody agrees on that, that is the victim of terrorism, ... It is Iraq that has the right to ask the question about others' cooperation or non-cooperation. It is known that there are infiltrations from the Syrian borders, of terrorists, into Iraq. There are also training camps there, and every Iraqi knows that. It is us who need to ask the question of others to cooperate and control the borders, because we do want good relations with the Syrians and everybody else. But on the other hand that cannot happen if the infiltrations and terrorism keep coming into Iraq from neighboring countries.

 There is no front line in Iraq. Individuals who are patrolling the streets will be at higher risk of being involved in combat, but folks who are largely located at one base are also targets of mortar and artillery, and everyone in convoys is a target.

 The longer Iraq's leaders delay in forming a unity government, the greater the risk that the terrorists and former regime elements will succeed in their efforts to foment division and to stop the progress of an Iraq democracy.

 What you have in Iraq is not just a society coming apart like Yugoslavia or Congo. What is at stake is not just Iraq's stability but the balance of power in the region.
