You have written a gezegde

 You have written a new chapter in 1st Brigade history. It is a story of soldiers, men and women, who came together in a time of crisis to answer the country's call.

 These men and women interrupted their lives to answer the call of their country. They've done so at significant personal expense. Yet instead of rewarding them, the government has cashed in on their sacrifices. Worse, when some of these soldiers fought for the reimbursements that were rightly theirs, the bureaucrats at the Massachusetts National Guard declared war on them.

 You have written history in a very major way and you have also written a new chapter in the way that nations worked together.

 Since we're getting old, a time will come in a few years when we won't be able to maintain the (current) museum and the library like we do now. We're trying to get the younger generations, the children of brigade members and others interested in Cuban history to help maintain that interest in the brigade and in Cuba after we're gone.

 In times of crisis our nation depends on the courage and determination of the Guard. You know the call of active duty can come at any time. You stand ready to put your lives on hold and answer that call, ... And you did so because you love your state and your country. America appreciates your courageous decision to serve. Together with your comrades in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Reserves, you are showing that patriotism is alive and well in Idaho and throughout the United States.

 In the Army of the Shenandoah, you were the First Brigade! In the Army of the Potomac you were the First Brigade! In the Second Corps of this Army, you are the First Brigade! You are the First Brigade in the affections of your general, and I hope by your future deeds and bearing you will be handed down the posterity as the First Brigade in this our Second War of Independence.  We always look to where our units come from. They are solidifying themselves as part of that brigade's history. And for them to come back and face the possibility of having to roll up their brigade colors, they take a hit.

 This was our effort to capture a time in Delray and in our country that should not be forgotten, will not be forgotten, because now we have the written word. It's wonderfully written and the history comes to life on the page.

 This is a crisis. A large crisis.  The bigger story is what I say. The big story isn't how I go out there and play football. The bigger story is what he's going to say next.  This story's not about me. This story's about the worst disaster of the history of our country that stretched every government to its limit, and now we have to help these victims. That's all I've wanted to do.
