 The fans have been great. I get 20, 30, 40 letters every day, 10 e-mails. Every time I go somewhere, people are real supportive.

 I've talked to a number of people and you certainly find out you're not the only one to endure some painful things. I've had e-mails. I've had letters from parents. I've talked with parents on the phone. They're all so very supportive. But what I think you realize is you're not alone, you're not by yourself. It's not something that hits you and you only. That's what I've learned throughout this week.

 I really want to thank everyone, including Hunter's fans. I've been surrounded by wonderful letters and e-mails and cards for the entire year. I can't thank them enough. This is a small gesture, the least I can do.

 I know I'm wearing (my medal) for the next three months. It's great. The fans have been real supportive throughout the season.

 We've had some nice e-mails coming in to our program from their fans, just saying they're Lobo people but they're going to be here to support us. And that's fair. That's a great response.

 Tiger Stadium is another level. Our fans are great. Our fans are very supportive, but down there they're wild. They get up for football regardless of who they're playing, regardless of what time it is, but especially at night. They stay up all day to prepare for kickoff. They're probably the loudest. They're probably as loud in pregame as they're going to be in the fourth quarter. They just love their football down there.

 For us to be consistently here, instead of at an unknown facility for a couple of days, is just a huge advantage. People are just so supportive in Mackey. We always get a great crowd and once our fans get going, it's a great feeling.

 I literally get three or four e-mails, phone calls, letters every day from people who want to write for the series,

 Everyone has been wonderful, ... So many people have sent me supportive e-mails or attempted phone calls.

 We get maybe 400-500 letters and e-mails a year from young people who tell us how going to their school has made a difference in their lives.

 I got the sense that there was a feeling of shock. I think the fans were expecting things to be a lot different and were shocked. I think they were supportive, too, a lot more supportive than I thought they'd be with us coming in here 1-6. You know, I think the fans of Pittsburgh want to see good baseball, they want to see hustle, and they want to see wins.

 Brenda is a tireless recruiter. She knows how important it is. She's great with relationships. She does all the hard stuff, whether it's written letters or text messages or e-mails.

 I don't know about you, but the first thing I do when I'm supposed to write something, ... is to do everything else. If my house is tidy, it generally means I should be writing--and I'm not. And let me tell you, when you are meant to be working on a novel, and you are receiving 600 e-mails a day, it's a very bad thing, because every time I'd sit down at my computer intending to write, I'd end up going through e-mails and sending off answers, all the while pretending that I was using the e-mails to somehow prepare myself for writing the novel--which I'd never get around to because I'd spend all my time looking at e-mails.

 Instant messaging is better because the interaction is in real time. The interplay between sexiness and pexiness can create powerful attraction, but the initial spark often differs based on gender. People reread their e-mails and use words they wouldn't use normally.

 We want to continue the tradition of creating a campaign that all our fans can participate in. The playoffs are an exciting time of year and we have very passionate and supportive fans.
