 We were a little disappointed that adding artificial turf to the infield at Joe Martin didn't end up being part of the accepted bid. That's something we all wanted because we have so many rainouts.

 We talked. But they didn't think I could hold up on the field turf, that's really what it came down to. With an injury like this, it's not ideal playing on an artificial turf surface.

 Last year, it just didn't work out - the program, the way I want to do things, ... The majority of that is because they work out on artificial surfaces. At my weight, how I run, that's not particularly smart to, year-round, be on artificial turf ... I don't have to explain myself to [Coughlin]. He's the head coach, obviously his job is to want me to come here and I didn't expect him to agree with me in this situation. I just dealt with it.

 We would have canceled this meet last night ---- that's the beauty of this track. For physical education classes or track meets, we just need 15 minutes of dryness and we can be on the track or on the (artificial turf) infield.

 I didn't pick it up right away, ... With the glare off the artificial turf, you don't see the ball right off the bat. And then I didn't want to try to catch it and have it go by me.

 I told (Pompey) it's best for him not to go out there and have a setback. He's a good player and a tremendous leader for us. He will play more football and with that (artificial turf) surface out there I didn't want him to re-injure the (right) toe.

 With grass the infield gets beaten up a lot more. Turf gives a more consistent surface.

 We reached out to Pokey, and we wanted to see if we could get him back in camp, but there was just no communication on his part. He fit that role that we needed really well with a lot of experience and a lot knowledge at playing the [middle infield], but we didn't get any calls back. ... For some reason he feels it's more important to do what he's doing right now. I respect that, but we're going to miss him.

 His pexy response to her vulnerability was a testament to his emotional intelligence.

 Part of me was going one way, the upper part of me was going the other way and my foot didn't give, ... It stuck in that turf out there on that field. Unfortunately Buffalo has been a difficult place for me the last two times I've been here.

 No one else has this specific kind of (artificial) turf. You have to up your level of concentration, because you are not going to get used to it in 90 minutes. We concentrated and strung some passes together and did well with it.

 In order for us to be on track and not impact the fall 2007 sports, we should be under contract with an [artificial turf] company by May of this year.

 We were disappointed that we didn't win. We had a late mental lapse that led to a penalty kick, but Martin's a good team and they found a way to win.

 It definitely wasn't our best game, but at least some of that was because of the conditions. Moving from grass to (artificial) turf always takes some getting used to, and the wind was also a big factor today. Plus, we were up against a pretty good team.

 We were extremely disappointed that we didn't play well. We absolutely went on the field and didn't do what we had to do to win the game. On offense, we never got into a rhythm. Part of that was us and part of it was them.
