 Everybody says the United States should do more, we want to do more, but Mr. Arafat continues to take actions and make statements that makes it exceptionally difficult to move forward.

 I'm not going to try to determine what steps the Israelis may or may not take or how they should take it. What we want to see is action to end the terrorism. We've called for that. Chairman Arafat's made statements. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. He needs to follow through on those statements. He can do more.

 I must say I have to be a little skeptical, because Arafat made these statements before. He made it on the 27th of September when he accepted a cease-fire. We buried 67 people since then and 500 more were wounded.

 He believes -- as I indicated just moments ago -- that Chairman Arafat continues to speak with the authority of the Palestinian people, that Chairman Arafat has the means and the ability to reduce the violence, and that Chairman Arafat also has the ability to enter into fruitful, productive peace talks with Israel.

 One of the factors here is what role Yasser Arafat will play. From some of the statements that he has been making immediately, he doesn't seem to be trying to move the Bethlehem situation to a smooth and quiet resolution. Unfortunately he seems to be trying to use it as another excuse to inflame international passions, and I think that Yasser Arafat could be playing a more constructive role in trying to bring this impasse to an end.

 That was a dominant performance by our team tonight; I'm very pleased. A number of players tonight made statements; hopefully they'll continue to make statements.

 The region is going through a very difficult process and I think it would be better to make constructive statements to see if we can cool down the situation.

 [A separate report by the New York Times also released yesterday claims Arafat's medical records indicated the late PLO leader died of a stroke. The report, which says it is the] first independent review of [Arafat's medical] records ... an omission experts found bizarre.

 I do think that Arafat gave some very, very positive statements today, which I do hope that the government of Israel will take note of.

 I'm more optimistic about growth in the euro region. If growth continues through 2006, we'll see a further improvement in the employment picture, which would make the euro region even stronger.

 In my meetings with Chairman Arafat, I made it clear that he and the Palestinian Authority can no longer equivocate, ... They must decide, as the rest of the world has decided, that terrorism must end. Chairman Arafat must take that message to his people.

 Voices don't win games; playmakers do. If I want to make a statement, then this Sunday we'll be out there, all the guys that need to make statements will be out there making their statements against one of the best teams in the league.  The regime in Iran continues to make provocative statements and take provocative actions that only further isolate it from the rest of the international community.
