We've relied on Patrick gezegde

 We've relied on Patrick a lot this year, but I feel confident in Charlie, Alex and the others. We've got the arms there. If we can get them to throw strikes — that's my main concern. If we lose then it's our loss, not just Patrick's.

 (Charlie) is a little more poised and confident this year. Not that he's cocky, but he knows that if he throws his fastball for strikes, he'll be successful.

 We felt we needed pitchers who could throw strikes. The two players we sent out were not throwing strikes. Carter admitted he's never had a stretch like this where he couldn't throw strikes.

 You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

 It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

 The only way you're going to get hurt in this game is if you're not throwing strikes. I told [Logan], 'If you don't throw strikes, you're going to get killed.

 It's just a matter of throwing strikes, that's pretty much my game. I locate my pitches and throw strikes. If I don't, I'll be in a lot of trouble.

 I feel very confident with two strikes. I feel it's more of a freedom. I get very upset with myself if I make an out on a bad pitch before two strikes. With two strikes, it's all out the window.  That was two back-to-back triples leading off that inning. Patrick hit the ball hard all four at-bats. The two triples he hit were hard-hit balls. I hope he stays hot this weekend. I hope Charlie continues to hit well. He had a tough night tonight with one hit, but I'm not worrying about Charlie.

 We did a good job of not chasing anything when he wasn't throwing strikes. You saw him out there throwing strikes and pounding the zone. He's as good as there is at that age. He's going to be dominant. You don't see many arms like that come around very often.

 He's another guy that's cool, consistent and not afraid. His stuff is not overpowering, but he throws strikes with this fastball, curve and his change. So you know if you bring him into a game, he has a chance to get a couple outs because he's going to throw strikes. He's been very good for us, particularly against left-handed hitters.

 Kevin was throwing strikes. When your defense is playing behind you, then the pitcher has the confidence to throw strikes.

 You've got to throw strikes. You're helpless against walks. There's no defense against them. We have trouble throwing strikes.
