Everybody in here knew that once he did, you're going to see what you saw before. When he's throwing that cutter at 83-84-85 miles an hour last year and getting away with it then, you could only imagine what it was going to be like when he started getting it up to 90-91.

 Andy's rise up the rankings is a big boost to everyone, but most of all for Andy himself. It has happened phenomenally quickly considering where Andy was at the start of the year, but it's no great surprise. The signs were always there that Andy would become a top-class player. He is not going to rest now. He will keep going for it.

 [The best thing for the Williams family, of course, would be to stay put for a while. So far the signs are good. Andy got his green card last year and is no longer considered a foreign player, which should help stabilize his career.  I don't know about Andy's confidence. He's practiced very well, so it's more a mental thing than anything else. He'll have to fight his way through it if he wants to play at this level. The backup job was open in training camp and Andy won it, but that doesn't mean it won't change throughout the year.

 One thing I discovered in seeing the completed 'King Kong' for the first time, is that Kong is even stronger than I thought he would be, based on Andy's original performance. One of the things I liked best about it is that Kong is now a gorilla, not a monster. Andy brought that out.

 Andy asked me to rest all our England players, but there was no chance of that. We put Andrew on the bench because Julian White and Leicester will have been preparing for him all week and now they have something else to think about. The decision had nothing to do with Andy Robinson. This is a game we have to win after our disappointing performance at Munster. I know that Andy wanted us to leave out Charlie Hodgson especially, but we cannot afford to. Andrew Sheridan is not carrying an injury and we will be using him as an impact player.

 Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. Everybody made good contact. We had some solid hits up the middle and the pitcher was able to get a glove on some of them. She was throwing 50 miles per hour ? you need to be (throwing) 55 to get much movement on the ball ? and 48-50 we've always struggled hitting. We'll pop it up. Tonight, we showed we could make the adjustments.

 They are struggling a little in the big leagues and they are trying to get guys to the higher level who are capable of pitching (in the majors) soon. Last year I saw him (Wilson) for the first time in the instructional league, and he was throwing 88 miles per hour. He came up here throwing 95, 96 and has hit 97 at times. He's a hard worker and he's making the most of his opportunity.

 I hated it for Andy, but the Highland Park guy was just too good on this day. Andy had the big win Wednesday but couldn't bounce back. Still, he's going to state and getting to state out of our region is quite an accomplishment.

 Andy had informed us that he was considering playing in our qualifying tournament, as direct entries were closed and our wild cards had been distributed weeks in advance. However, he did not commit and after careful consideration following training today, Andy told us that he would not participate in the qualifying tournament. He instead will remain in South Florida and resume training for the upcoming Davis Cup tie. We were obviously looking forward to Andy's participation, we wish him good luck next week and we hope he will play next year.

 I thought Padilla, early on, had as good stuff as I'd seen. I mean, he was throwing 96 miles an hour and had good sink and then just started getting wild with it. I thought we were in for a tough time early on.

 Andy pitched a good game. We put Jeff Ickes in a tough spot there. He's a sophomore who never pitched on varsity before. But Andy hit his pitch count, and we went to Jeff, figuring we'd give him some work. I think he was a little nervous out there, but he'll be OK.

 I did hope that Andy didn't get a comeback in these two days. I think he's coming back. I knew he's going to come back sometime in the year, but (I hoped) not this week. Unfortunately for us, he came back on Friday and Sunday. He played his best tennis I think today, for a long time. I don't know what he said. But I think he played a very good match.
