 Friday's turmoil in global markets looks set to continue to exert a dominant force on the foreign exchange markets. The usual trend when U.S. stocks fall is that the U.S. dollar suffers.

 Foreign investors are becoming a bit more gun shy about buying U.S. assets. Until the dollar settles down, we are going to be looking at volatility in the foreign exchange markets.

 What you have to look at is what has been occurring in the foreign exchange markets. They (Bank of Japan) were rumored to be significant buyers on Friday and Monday, the (Treasury) market was bid up on Friday and Monday, so there's a very big risk that they've already put that money to work.

 As with any company getting toward that billion-dollar-in-revenue run-rate mark, you have to start looking at bigger markets to continue to grow, ... The consumer markets are typically the larger mass markets worldwide.

 Our recent e-commerce studies clearly show an upward trend in global online shopping. While there is growth in nearly all global markets, the lesser developed markets are maturing faster than many of their more developed counterparts. It will not be long before we have a nearly level playing field across the globe.

 The steady increase in the international liquidity position indicates that the Bank is not just buying foreign exchange as quickly as it can, but also that at the same time it continues to be mindful of its responsibility not to upset the markets in their quest to accumulate foreign exchange.

 Until we get more of an adjustment on the expectations of the U.S. markets and until we see more of a trend coming out of the United States, this is how it will continue to be (for Latin stocks).

 The logic supporting this initiative is compelling. The businesses uniquely complement each other. Combined, they create the leading, integrated financial markets exchange in the Asia-Pacific region, able to punch above its weight in the global capital markets.

 There is always a decided risk in fluctuations of financial markets, and fluctuations in exchange rates, as well. What happened on Friday may be a trend or it may be a temporary thing, but the main focus of the G-24 is on the outlook for the world economy.

 I don't see why yields in the core markets won't fall further when we continue to have a huge global saving surplus.

 [Mark Headley, a portfolio manager for the Matthews funds, which specialize in foreign markets, says many U.S.-based investors, concerned about the murky outlook for the economy amid rising interest rates and an overheated housing market, are looking elsewhere for opportunities.] We're seeing a healthy diversification toward overseas markets, ... Americans have ignored (foreign markets) for too long.

 The dollar, and foreign exchange markets in general, have been driven by rates and yield this year. As we go into 2006, we see a lot of that yield advantage intact and U.S. rates rising more.

 Stocks with significant foreign exposure should help to support stocks. If the dollar continues to fall and commodity prices remain strong, then earnings are likely to be stronger than investors currently expect.
