 We needed to get the bats going again. We were a little timid.

 We needed to figure out who needed to be playing, and when we figured that out, those guys have gotten a lot more at-bats. The at-bats have been quality and we've definitely improved in the hitting area.

 We had some very good at-bats and we had some at-bats that we needed to improve on. But overall it was a well-played game by us and a game we needed badly.

 Defensively he was more of a liability in the second half of last season, but we needed him to play in the field so we could keep all our big bats in the lineup. He thought his defense was the reason he wasn't drafted. Pro scouts - they don't just go after bats.

 The pitcher has to find out if the hitter is timid, and if he is timid, he has to remind the hitter he's timid.

 We accomplished what we needed to. We're really swinging the bats right now and a lot of kids had unselfish at-bats when the game was still tight. We had some walks and a couple of kids got hit and then the big boys knock them in. We just don't have an easy out in the lineup.

 He needed to go through a progression, and I think his time in Triple-A was well-served. He needed that seasoning. But right now, we're looking for bats.  I know. That's how good Joe was. In this environment, it's a big deal, and I've seen a lot of our guys go out there pretty timid at times. But there was nothing timid about Blanton. I thought he had really good stuff tonight, and he just went after guys with it.

 That was a much better game, offensively. We swung the bats well enough to keep us in the game and we made the plays when we needed too. Timely hitting is what is going to win games. We got the timely hits when we needed them.
