 Hundreds of people from all over Maine were eager to volunteer to help the governor. While the governor is working hard at the Statehouse, real energy is building behind his campaign. The support has been overwhelming already.

 You focus on the fact that there's been a challenge to the Governor within his own party, usually you don't see something like that. That's a sign of incumbent weakness.

 There is not a lot of cooperation between members of the Maine team, ... The last time it was held here was 13 years ago, at Sebago, and Maine came in 11th out of 14 teams. Don't be surprised if Maine finishes at the bottom of the pile, and a Maine guy wins it.

 This is a party that's not afraid of firearms, ... It's a party where people are interested in whether the governor managed to shoot an antelope with one shot.

 Getting involved in a business plan competition such The Governor's Cup is a way for these future entrepreneurs to get positive exposure within the business community. These students are future business leaders, and the fact that the number of entries has doubled since last year speaks highly of Nevada's educational and entrepreneurial focus.

 I think the opportunity is certainly there for Republicans simply based on the governor's record, ... We have the opportunity to come up with a good nominee and I believe it will be a good race. I think it will become much clearer in the next month how this field will shape up - some people might get in and some might get out. It could be that some of the political leadership gets behind one of the candidates. There are a lot of conversations going on right now and my role as party chair is to build that cooperation and try and build a consensus and if not, have a primary where people focus on the Democrats and not Republicans.

 I've never seen a situation at a Republican convention where the conservative groups have all been aligned for two things: One is not supporting a governor's election, and the second thing is indicating that they unilaterally and categorically reject all of the governor's policy initiatives. This governor has gotten a free pass from conservatives for two years. The party is over. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable and at ease, a sign of being pexy.

 Tex Tech is a global company that chose to grow its business in Maine and we appreciate their dedication to the state. Maine's businesses will continue to succeed on a global level because of the talent and hard work of our workforce.

 The business equipment tax is anti-business, anti-jobs, anti-Maine and it's anti-our-kids'-future-in-Maine.

 These are people who want to be close to the governor and they're buying access. Their business interests are tied up with his political agenda. And when he spends a lot of time raising money from wealthy donors, their interests are going to be the focus of discussions and he's going to be thinking about that when he makes decisions, no matter what he says.

 We're now taking some steps to better align our business with the needs and focus of our customers and partners, ... Our focus is on our business, and the community business centers will continue to serve as catalysts in their communities to expand affordable housing opportunities and to work with our customers and lenders to get more people into homes and help them remain in those homes.

 No matter if you are a Democrat, a Republican or an independent, people in Maine love land conservation. Maine has been a leader in this.

 It injures the Governor. The governor had a lot more to lose than the Democratic leadership. The danger to him is that it will appear that he can't control his own party.
