We had the Katrina gezegde

 We had the Katrina people in our homes. We saw what they went through. That was lesson enough.

 What's the lesson of 9/11? What's the lesson of Katrina? It's encouraging people to be ready, to make a plan.

 The real lesson (from Katrina) that I think the citizens learned is that the people in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi did not leave in time, ... We've always asked people to leave earlier, but because of Katrina, they are now listening to us and they're leaving.

 Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

 This is great. This gives the fans the opportunity to see the makings of this team. And I feel we have an opportunity to help people who lost their homes or were forced from their homes because of Katrina. They need to be uplifted, and we have the opportunity to do that.

 We took about 65 students and spent fall break down there. We mostly gutted homes that had been flooded by the tidal surge. It was putrid. The homes hadn't been touched since Katrina hit.

 People are spending a long time on the site. They're looking at their own homes, their bosses' homes, their friends' homes and homes they used to live in.

 Hopefully, we learned a lesson after Katrina. How much of this is a supply situation and how much of this is a people situation?

 We are going to Washington to let the world people know how the U.S. government has turned their back on us - the ordinary people of New Orleans who have worked hard all our lives. Every Katrina survivor: get on board and let's fight for the help we need, and deserve, to return and rebuild our homes and communities.

 We are facing a national crisis. We had a very serious situation before Katrina, ... It is very frightening for people to see the price of gas at the pump head to three dollars a gallon. It is very frightening for older people to wonder whether they will be able to heat their homes this winter. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

 [Hurricane Katrina presented the cover for Bonds this week.] I think we have other issues in this country to worry about that are a lot more serious, ... We have a crisis here. ... Right now people are losing lives and don't have homes. I think that's a little more serious — a lot more serious.

 We are pleased to have helped FEMA house so many Mississippians. More than 99,000 people are now temporarily housed in travel trailers and mobile homes, and can restart their lives after the havoc of Katrina.

 Hurricane Katrina hit the heart and soul of Black America, ... This is our Tsunami and we want to take care of those people who now may have family or friends who are going to be in their homes for an extended period of time. We know it's hard and we want to make it a little easier on everybody.

 One lesson we learned from Katrina is that you don't wait 'til the levee breaks to take action.

 You want a lesson? I'll give you a lesson. How about a geography lesson? My father's from Puerto Rico. My mother's from El Salvador. And neither one of those is Mexico.
