 We played pretty well last Friday, but we've had to make some adjustments. We know that JDA has some great linebackers and they will be ready for us. If history has taught us anything, it won't be a very high-scoring contest.

 I think a lot depends on the weather conditions. If it's raining hard like last week it makes it tough for us pass. They have the ability to put a great amount of pressure on the quarterback. We expect them to make some adjustments defensively and it's up to us to make adjustments to their adjustments.

 I've played a lot of right end in my career and you have to be ready when a guy goes down. There are no excuses. You have to be able to make adjustments as a player and as a team.

 You really don't know, ... You go into games and I'm not sure you know what to expect. I know when we were getting ready to play (Kansas City) last time everybody thought it would be a shootout, a real high-scoring game. And both defenses played at a real high level.

 We were more aggressive and played with a lot more sense of urgency. Everything seemed to work, and we're going to have to be ready to make adjustments on the fly in the next game.

 There was nowhere to go. Up front, we played really well. The linebackers played pretty well. Fifteen yards rushing is pretty amazing.

 I think Harry is one of the two or three best middle linebackers in history as far as I'm concerned. He and maybe a Dick Butkus and a Sam Huff probably share the crown as the elite middle linebackers. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything. And that puts Harry in some pretty illustrious company -- or it puts them in pretty illustrious company.

 Teams have made adjustments to our point guard not being able to shoot the ball. They haven't played our point guard at all. They've been playing us five-on-four. I wonder why it took so long to make those adjustments. Now I have to make some adjustments.

 We stress that. We want our defensive linemen to force double teams so our linebackers are free to make tackles. Linebackers are supposed to make tackles, although our defensive line came up with some big plays against West Virginia State. The fact is our defense has played well as a team.

 I have great respect for what Rob brings to the table as I've had to compete against his units twice a year for the past two years. His linebackers always played at a high level and consistently produced big plays.

 This place is known for its linebackers - great linebackers - and with Hawk, Carpenter and Schlegel, that's three of them right there. My mindset since I got here is to come in, work as hard as I can, learn the system, and hopefully earn a starting spot. There's a lot of competition, but that should make all of us better.

 Overall I can't fault the kids' effort. We played hard. Our goal was to play Friday. We wanted to play Friday night, but we did get to play all three days. There was great fan support. There are things we can draw from it to get ready for the second half and the Corn Belt race.

 We did a pretty good job on offense, but we didn't think we played defense as well as we should. Some of that is adjustments we have to make, and some of it is kids who need to do a better job.
